Courtesy of Blazer06. Pours very dark with nice looking mocha head. The aroma offers up chocolate, dark to burnt malts and boozy whiskey. The taste delivers some roasted malts, dark roasted malts, burnt malts and some spicy black licorice. Midway and into the finish smooth sweet whiskey booze seems to hold the whole experience together. Tastes pretty good. Bottle provided by Pinball. Wow ! Opaque pitch black pour with a thick creamy beige head. Tar, whisky, hard roasted malt, liquorice, warming alcohol, sweet caramel and chocolate in the aroma. The flavour heavy roasted with notes of motor oil, oak, vanilla, peat, roasted malt, brown sugar, soy, coffee and chocolate. Extremely complex. Almost too muc but neeeeh..... Oh forgot the oily thick texture.... yngwie (17053) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 8, 2011
Bottle, shared by Meilby. A black one, topped by a big, tan head. Didn’t expect that size of head, but it looks really, really nice, sure deserving a 5 on appearance. Alcohol, burnt malts, whisky and notes of vanilla and soy on the nose. The flavor is pretty much the same, with lots of dark sugary sweetness and a very evident alcohol flavor and mouth warmth. It’s full-bodied and almost sticky on the palate. The finish lasted for a really long time, I still felt the taste of it when I entered the cab to go home after finishing the beer. Well, I liked the beer, but it almost disappointed (sic) after the Islay barrel aged one we had just before this one. 110114 Doodler (318) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 6, 2011
Bottle #2 at Bills big vertical tasting. Pours a deep pitch brown. Nice tan head. Whiskey and slightly smoky aroma. Thick and chewy. Flavors of vanilla, wood, licorice and chocolate. Notes of alcohol and malts on the finish. Not too sweet. Great beer, though not as nice as the Islay. Still, a top brew from Mikkeller. zach8270 (4022) - Henrietta, New York, USA - APR 14, 2011
(bottle - 375 ml) Dark black pour with no head or carbonation. Heavy roasted malt, dark fruit, wine and whiskey aroma. Very complex flavor. Lots of fruits, roasted malts, coffee, oak and vanilla at the start with a big whiskey and oak flavor at the finish. Warming and very smooth.
