Rich black color; Heavy slightly creamy body; Aroma of smoky malt, yeast, dark chocolate, & some dark fruit; Flavor of roasted/smoky sweet malt, yeast, rich dark chocolate, coffee/espresso, caramel, and some spice; Hot boozy finish; Intense - a bit over the top though.

375 ml bottle into snifter, best before 10/22/2025. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense dark brown head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Incredible appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, espresso, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, raisin, prune, cherry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, and roast/char earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roasted malt, brown sugar, and fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, espresso, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, raisin, prune, cherry, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, and roast/char earthiness. Large amount of pine/wood char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, espresso, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, vanilla, dark fruit, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, and roast/char earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roasted malt, brown sugar, and fruity yeast flavors; with a solid roasted bitter/sweet balance; and some astringent roasted character lingering after the finish, but not overbearing. Light-moderate increasing dryness due to strong bitterness as well. Light carbonation and full body; with a very creamy/slick and sticky/resinous/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish for a while. Overall this is a very nice huge imperial stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of roasted malt, brown sugar, and fruity yeast flavors; and fairly smooth to sip on for the enormous ABV. This was quite strong on bitterness, but some good age should tone down the bitter hop/char character to more sensible levels. This was still very enjoyable, but a very slow sipper.

First impressions on the nose are acetate, nail polish remover and the taste confirms with hot alcohol. Sampled version is 2012 vintage so probably not going to get any better. Apart from that there is nothing going on in this beer - no complex flavours. Disappointing.

UPDATED: APR 20, 2016 Fantastic, big, beige head. In aroma full of vanilla, almonds, nuts, chocolate pralines, licorice, roasted sunflower seeds, flash of alcohol. Taste is so sweet. Full of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts ends with too long lasting alcoholic finish. Body is full. Very good imperial stout.

UPDATED: APR 22, 2016 ---Pisane na podstawie notatek--- Barwa brązowa, wysoka piana, świetny lacing. Aromat mega intensywny. Wyczuwalne: lekki alkohol, mleczna czekolada, kawa, lekka paloność, aromaty zbożowe-chlebowe, wanilia, cukier trzcinowy, whisky, lekkie wiśnie. Piwo jest oleiste. W smaku mega słodkie, kawowe, gładkie, słodowe, słabo wyczuwalna paloność, przykryta przez mega słodycz. Wychodzi rwnież aromat sosu sojowego. Wyraźnie wyczuwalny alkohol i alkoholowa goryczka, ktre z czasem giną i zostają zastąpione kawą i kawową goryczką. Oglnie likierowe. Świetne!

At Mrks. Bottle shared. Black with tan head. Verrery boozy dark roasted, bitter concentrated chocolate/coffee, dark raisans. Sweet with strong bitter. Medium body, sharpness from high abv. Powdery dryness. Quite carbonated. Sour edge to the finish. Overkill, obvious.

Bottle shared thanks to sjogro. Black with very big light brown head. Lots of roasted malts up front, dark chocolate, marzipan, cranberries, dried orange skins, massive bitter alcohol in the finish with some noted of green tea and unripe berries. Medium sweet, thick roasted bitterness and way too strong lasting nasty bitter finish. Almost full bodied. Ok, but the finish and lingering bitterness are pretty bad.
