meglio dell’orval sotto alcuni aspetti.... cmq perfetta... ma questo è personale. bravo mikkeller, è la birra che ci aspettavamo.. bravo!!! Beachmaster (546) - Oklahoma, USA - FEB 23, 2015
Bomber into a tulip glass. Pours a dark amber, with a huge, rocky beige head that very slowly dissipates. Nose is malt with Belgian yeast notes of banana and clove. Taste is medium roast malt and faint dark fruit notes, with noticeable pepper .Finish is rather short, with a crisp hop bite. Well-balanced. Very good. vincentvega72 (726) - Terneuzen, NETHERLANDS - NOV 2, 2015
Lekkere licht bittere afdronk. Bier met gevoel gemaakt dat proef je. coreyc1221 (319) - Truckee, California, USA - JUN 26, 2013
A bit tart then barley calms it down. Dark ruby color with pillowy cream colored head. Copper tones after a tangy hibiscus champagne start. Unde (1064) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 12, 2013
Deep orange looks with incredibly fluffy and big head which floats like an iceberg on top of this beer. Beautiful. Scent is so sour and good! Bretta-yeast brings these green sour apple flavors and there is some citrus hops to balance the sourness. Sour apples are present in the taste too. Yeast dominates the flavors but not overpowering other flavors such as drying citrus hops and peppery spiciness. Full body and medium-to-high carbonation. Very pleasant surprise! Magnificent beer.

Mikkeller.
330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Delhaize. I always expected Mikkeller to become a global brand but it is still a real schock to being able to buy a Mikkeller beer in a supermarket in Belgium. Drank side-by-side with Orval. Orval bottled on 10/03/2015. I think that there might be only 7 days difference between both bottles. Årh Hvad?! is BBF 04/03/2025. Small touch hazy amber compared to Orval but not much. Head is way bigger, disappearing rather quickly, off-white, colour is touch more milky. Brett is way heavier in the Årh Hvad?!, very upfront in the smell, caramel malts, orange peel, fruity in the back, flowers & lots of candy sugar in a good way but brett dominates. Taste is bitter floral, mineral, some bitter plastic, floral, plastic orange peel, plenty of brett, grass, dried apricot, lots of spices,… Light touch too plastic. Body is much drier, bit thinned out, less chewy malts but might be the age since I am drinking a very fresh Orval. I do think that both beers should be almost the same age. There is a plastic bitterness in the back. It really has all of the elements of Orval, it isn’t as fine tunned, it lacks complexity a bit, it is too much brett forward, touch too little sweetness, malt etc. It is a very admirable attempt. The spoof of the Trappist logo on the bottle is a nice touch. I def. enjoyed, it would have probably shined a bit more if I tried this one on its own & not next to Orval. I am a huge fan of Orval. I would love to try the BA versions of this beer. I blended a bit of both beers but the total was less than the sum of parts in my opinion. Still this is surprisingly close but no cigar. maltandhops (52) - Paris, FRANCE - AUG 21, 2016
Lively, funky aroma, very inviting. Tastes dark malt and orange hops with barnyard spices> Better than any Orval I had. haukur (1946) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - MAY 31, 2013
Spectacular coppar colour. Head is small and not as wild as Orval. Looks more like a fresh Orval though, but that color is just amazing. Peppery nose, obvious brett, farmhouse. Some leather. Finish is brett but also some hop bitterness with spices and herbs. Really well made and I can only imagine how good this will age in 3-4 years. Serapac (471) - CZECH REPUBLIC - APR 30, 2015
Well done ye Trappist monks of Denmark! Nearly prefect emulation and in some ways even improvement on yer Belgian brethren. And three cheers to Delhaize for offering this treat.
