Sampled at EBF08.
Pitch black with a beige head.

On tap at EBF 08. Black with a thin tan head. Some roast on aroma, but like Reakt says, not a huge aroma. Powdery coal dust aroma. Rather a nice flavour. Toffee treacle and coffee but quite light. It’s ok, but doesn’t stand out in the same way as some of the Mikkeller specials did. faroeviking (10838) - FAROE ISLANDS - OCT 2, 2008
Botella. Thanks a bunch big time for sharing this gem Pinball. Pitch black colour with a rather short lasting dark brown bubbly head. Lovely roasted maltiness in the aroma along with lots of dark fruits, alcohol, dark chocolate, lots of coffee and bitter hops. Great filling mouthfeel. The flavour is bustling with roasted malt, lots of coffee, dark chocolate, alcohol, bitter hops, wood and spice. Long lasting very roasty bitter coffee chocolate alcohol finish. Great beer indeed! cgarvieuk (24166) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 1, 2008

On tap at the beer festival in Copenhagen 2008. This one is a dark and heavy bastard taht defently is worth sharing.
Pours deep pitch black with a darkbrown head. The nose is fruity in a vinoes way combained with Mikkellers caracteristic hoppy sidenotes. It has a dry and full mouthfeel and a taste with chocolate, cofee and wood that witness of a perfect barrelaging. The chocolate is clear and the sweetness is wellbalanced with a good amount of bitterness. The finish is sweet like a deluxe cake-dessert...serve it with wipped cream. Good job Mikkeller

At EBF: Pitch black with tiny head. Strong burned malty aroma with strong notes of dark chocolate, spices, coffee and liqourice with hints of wood. Flavours is mainly bitter with some sweetness. Long powerfull bitter finish. austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - SEP 26, 2008
Draught at EBF. Black, brown mocha head. Dry coffee and oak on the nose, grain and little vanilla. Flavor is almost the perfect example of barrel ageing, oak, vanilla, syrupy sweet malts, little alcohol and a herbal liquorice finish. Full bodied, smooth palate. What a balance. Had this at European Beer Festival, Kobenhaven 12-09-08 . Poured shark eye black which in my book is a little bit darker than coal, so maybe Mr Mikkeller should rename this ’Mikkeller Shark Eye Black’ very thick consistency, nice oily hops, oily texture, bitter coffee, bitter chocolate, some dark fruit. They’ve certainly packed a lot into this beer but they can and did do better stuff at this beer festival.
