Bottle shared with (and great courtesy of) the Bergen tasting crew. Pours a black colour with a light brown compact coffee-like head. The aroma is sweet and compact with tones of roasted malt, coffee, oak, Irish coffee, syrup and alcohol. The flavour is not far away with the addition some spices, and is pretty complex. Has a rich and smooth mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. A balanced, compact and nice stout. The bourbon is not very distinct though. Inbreak (6711) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - MAY 12, 2013

Nice cocoa colored head. Aroma is medium rich, coffee, dark sugar, caramel, licorice, wood, soy sauce, cocoa. Taste is slightly rich, caramel, dark sugar, cocoa, coffee, wood, grass, a hint of bourbon. Slightly dry, medium bitterness. Very drinkable for being a barrel aged beer.

A - Dark black with a hint of brown and a finger of frothy chocolate head. Fades fairly slowly.
S - Dark chocolate malts, roasted coffee, vanilla, oak, Bourbon, milk chocolate, molasses, black licorice, some caramel malts.
T - Dark chocolate malts, roasted coffee, oak, vanilla, Bourbon, black licorice, molasses, some milk chocolate and caramel malts, earthy hops and some mild hop bitterness, toasted coconut, oatmeal.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Super smooth with a roasted, sweet, and warming finish.
D - Fantastic balance. The Bourbon adds some great complexity to the base beer.

Aroma has nice notes of chocolate an roast as well as secondary notes of bourbon, oak and quite a bit of vanilla. There is also a fruitiness that doesn't quite fit; I want to say raisin and fig. Some alcohol in the aroma and a touch of oxidation, but wet cardboard instead of sherry. A hint of a coffee aroma.
Pours a deep black with a thick mocha colored head that has pretty solid retention. Some lacing and moderate legs.
Flavor has a nice malt forward character with a good balance of roast, chocolate and oats. After the initial malt character fades away you get a bit of oak and vanilla as well as a touch of bourbon. As that fades there are dark fruit notes, some tobacco and leather and more bourbon. The finish starts with milk chocolate and a hint of coffee and slowly gets more roasty and astringent. There is more bourbon and alcohol in the finish. There is an odd vanilla extract type characteristic to the vanilla note. Low hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Astringency is medium low. Silky, creamy mouthfeel. Moderately high alcohol warmth.
Overall this beer is alright. It seems a bit oxidized in a less than good way. The esters in the aroma don't quite fit and mid-palate the vanilla/oak note is a bit off.

500mL bottle, no date, and no idea how/when the hell I got this beer. Hopefully I don’t get mad at Mikkeller for this beer, but at least I can’t get mad at him for overpricing it, since I don’t , know what I paid for it. Clear dark brown pour--black in the glass--with a two finger dark tan head. Charred oak barrels and bourbon (only lightly sweet, not like Angel’s Share [I realize it’s just of 1/2 strength of AS]) up front, but not terribly strong, with a fair amount of chocolate and caramel malts, roasted grain behind. I’m also getting some spearmint from somewhere. Flavor follows, stronger spearmint and ashy roast. I’m not getting as much bourbon in the flavor, however. The finish is semi-dry, burnt and ashy with bitterness peaking at a 3-4. Medium body with the oatmeal lending some lovely smoothness, light carbonation. The spearmint and ashy burnt roast keep me far from loving this beer. Meh, not very enjoyable, and I’m still sure I overpaid for it. arone12 (935) - Maryland, USA - APR 20, 2012
Pours a super dark color with a dark brown head. Sharing this one with the roommate. Smells of coffee and chocolate! Bourbon is not too present I feel. I like a little more bourbon in my barrel aged beers. Nice coffee flavors however. Hoping my red wings can pull out a victory tonight. This beer should power them forward.
