Pours pitch black with a full and heavy tan creamy head. Loads of sweet milk chocolate, deep roasted coffee, vanilla, soy, tobacco, toffee, and charred oak. Vanilla is really nice up front with milk chocolate and roast coffee. The tobacco comes in around the middle taste with the soy. The finish is bitter roast and lasting.

Bottle picked up at StateLine... Poured into a snifter... black color, with an awesome two finger head. The head was mocha colored with small bubbles that stuck around. Nice aroma of some light smoke, coco, roasted malts, coffee and bourbon.... Taste is warming... maybe some peppers in there? Light vanilla, roasted malts, chocolate, light coffee.... Very smooth and creamy.... easy to drink. Blended together very well. Overall: I love mikkeller and this is another great beer, but for the price... I would probably go with the regular beer geek breakfast.

3/25/11. Bottle. Black pour with a small brown head. Ashy chocolate aroma with coffee and a touch of vanilla and bourbon. Sweetish, almost sour flavor with more coffee and chocolate and a bit of barrel, but its pretty subtle. Nice!

Bottle. 16.9 oz. Split with and courtesy of James. Pours a deep amber mud with a thick, creamy, tightly bubbled amber head. Spotty, clinging lace. Aroma of bourbon, cinnamon, licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, roast, and odd marshmallow notes. Tastes of roasted coffee beans, bourbon, vanilla, and slight smoky sweetness. Full, rich, velvety body. This beer is luscious, robust and satisfying. Excellent stout.

"Barrel Aged Breakfast". 500ml black-capped bottle. It pours beautifully into my snifter. It is a dense, oily looking black with a foamy brownish tan head. The head sticks for awhile before receding with some lacing. The smell is very nice. It has a lot of vanilla and oak scents from the barrels, it smells almost creamy. There is cocoa, wort, roasted malts and hints of hops and coffee under them. The flavor is more like the original with a decent blast of coffee, some cocoa, and roasted malts. There is a hint of hops, oak, and spice. The sweetness I expected isn’t there. It is a very subtle BA beer. I liked it as much as I liked the original .

16.9 oz bottle. Dark brown with thick, clingy tan foam. Nose is coffee, cocoa and bourbon; three of my favorite breakfast beverages. A little hay and some wood. Creamy and coating with a light tingle and a tang. Taste like it smells with the coffee stronger and the bourbon softer. Finishes with barely burnt sugar and oats. Restrained for Mikkeller but still good.

Bottle. Poured a dark black color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of roastiness, woody, peat, chocolate, and some vanilla. Tastes of wood, vanilla, earthy, roasty, chocolate, and coffee. Bourbon on the lighter side.

Such a subtle barrel treatment here it really diversifies the flavor profile without dominating it like a number of other beers that treat their stouts this way. Impressive in that respect especially since the base beer is so enjoyable to begin with. Nice pudding looking tan head with some long lasting lacing down the glass. Mostly vanilla aroma with a touch of bourbon and a nice roasted coffee aspect wafting up through your nose. Flavor is mostly coffee and bittersweet chocolate up front that fades into a bit of a vanilla flavor, some wood, and a faint hint of bourbon sweetness and alcohol. Finish is sticky sweet and very candy dessert like.
