Bottle 50 cl. Pours a pitch black with a dense and lacing light brown head. Hard roast charcoal aroma – some licorice as well. Medium body, very burned maltiness, dark dried fruits and charcoal, a little vanilla too but not much Bourbon really. Ends malt astringent. 160111 mcberko (18557) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 27, 2013
500mL bottle one year before the expiration date, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany), pours black with a medium tan head and lots of sediment. Nose brings out an unusual sweet, licorice-y liqueur character with some weird spice mix upfront above anything, along with a little wood, roasted malt and oats. Flavour is thankfully not along those lines -- at least not the weird dominant liqueur part -- with moderate roasted malt and subdued bourbon characterizing the flavour. The nose puts me off more and more; it’s unfortunate I have to smell it every time I go to take a sip. The depth of the base beer is sadly gone in this version. I’m not sure if this is past its prime or if the barrel aging was supposed to do this, but this doesn’t work for me. A sub-bar Mikkeller beer. yngwie (17168) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 13, 2011
Bottle, at Patricks. A black one, topped by a big, creamy, tan head that lasts, although smaller. Cute lacings. There’s a lot of chocolate on the nose. Coffee, vanilla and bourbon too, some hints of hops. Warming, full-bodied and nicely carbonated, rather dry but with a good sweetness balancing the whole thing. Quite a lot of flavor, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bitterness and some booze. Lasting finish. A beer I could dip my nose into for ages. The flavor isn’t at the same level, but still very good. 110113 jtclockwork (17070) - , New Jersey, USA - MAR 5, 2011

Bottle gifted by Marcus. What a guy! Pours very black with a foamy/creamy dark tan head. 4 fingers! I’m getting bourbon/vanilla in large quantity with chocolate, coffee and smooth burnt malt. Full bodied with creamy carbonation. Finishes smooth bitter chocolate. Quite tasty.
