Bottle. 16.9 oz. Split with and courtesy of James. Pours a deep amber mud with a thick, creamy, tightly bubbled amber head. Spotty, clinging lace. Aroma of bourbon, cinnamon, licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate, roast, and odd marshmallow notes. Tastes of roasted coffee beans, bourbon, vanilla, and slight smoky sweetness. Full, rich, velvety body. This beer is luscious, robust and satisfying. Excellent stout. ngeunit1 (1555) - Waltham, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 14, 2013

Nice. TeamTrappist (832) - jericho, New York, USA - FEB 26, 2011
Bottle. Poured a creamy dark black with a thin dark beige head. Nose is coffee, roasted malt with a hint of the bourbon barrel. If I had never had the base beer I would have just come out and said this is an amazing barrel aged beer, and it is. Both versions are excellent but it’s possible I may prefer it without the bourbon. Then again maybe not. On third sip, definitely not!! Big roasted malts, huge coffee flavor and hints of chocolate delicately accentuated by bourbon barrel aging. Finish is a tad sweet between the chocolate and the abv. jredmond (8285) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 10, 2011

Pours black as night. A big rich well coated palate. Aroma full of roast a hint of vanilla sweetness and a touch of lightly bitter coffee. Flavor is fantastic. Not to much barreling, just a subtle sweet finish to a great base beer. yngwie (17053) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 13, 2011
Bottle, at Patricks. A black one, topped by a big, creamy, tan head that lasts, although smaller. Cute lacings. There’s a lot of chocolate on the nose. Coffee, vanilla and bourbon too, some hints of hops. Warming, full-bodied and nicely carbonated, rather dry but with a good sweetness balancing the whole thing. Quite a lot of flavor, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bitterness and some booze. Lasting finish. A beer I could dip my nose into for ages. The flavor isn’t at the same level, but still very good. 110113 randy1301 (265) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 2, 2011

3/25/11. Bottle. Black pour with a small brown head. Ashy chocolate aroma with coffee and a touch of vanilla and bourbon. Sweetish, almost sour flavor with more coffee and chocolate and a bit of barrel, but its pretty subtle. Nice! superspak (5591) - Michigan, USA - JUN 18, 2011
500 ml bottle into snifter. Pours opaque black color with a nice 2 finger very dense dark tan head with great retention, that reduces to a fairly thick lacing cap that lasts. Some thick lacing is left on the glass as well. Aromas of huge bourbon notes with dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, wood, and a bit of vanilla. Good strong aromas here, decent balance, but a little heavy on the bourbon. Taste of huge notes of coffee, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel on the front; with some bourbon and vanilla in the back. Finishes with a fair amount of bitterness that lingers for a bit with coffee and roasted flavor. Outstanding balance of flavors, very smooth drinking for the alcohol level as well. Medium-full bodied with medium carbonation. Fairly creamy feeling as well. No alcohol noticed in the taste and a very slight warming on the finish. Overall an outstanding imperial stout. The nose was really strong on the bourbon, but the taste was great the bourbon sitting in the background.
