Bottle sampled at Papsø’s on 8/30/09: Transparent dark copper amber pour has a small creamy off-white head. Big smoky nose has some hickory woody notes and an underlying caramely sweetness. Starts with a rich caramel maltiness and lots of complex smoky notes with a touch of cherries before a slightly drier and smoky bittersweet finish. Very complex and enjoyable. Re-rate at Dutch RB meeting, thanks for sharing joes! Pours an almost clear deep orange with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of smoke, spices and slightly sweet malts. Flavor of smoke, spicy tobacco, leather, malts, slightly sweet and quite bitter. Very bitter spicy finish. Interesting and quite unique brew. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - FEB 18, 2010
(25cl bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a small off-white head. Aroma of medical bandage, smoke, grilled brisket, and dates. Flavor of smoke, raisins, caramel, and peat. nbutler11 (1267) - Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - FEB 17, 2010
Many thanks to daknole for sharing this one for the super bowl. Pours a dark amber color with a trim beige head. Brimming with the aroma of ham and char -- very nice. Tastes of further ham, wood, and smoke with the addition of what approximates sweet tea on my palate -- perhaps from the honey. The dark amber flow becomes dark brown in the large Mikkeller glass; the medium sized foam reduces quickly to a thin layer. Nice smoke aroma, not fat like the Aecht Schlenkerla, more delicate, with an impression of sausages (sour smoke), paper and vanilla. Good body strength, sweetish caramel flavor; immediately the alcohol is too strong; some sweet liquorice, sourish smoked sausage, light chemicals. The final is too burning.

I like sweet beers, I like smoked beers, this one is a bit confused.
Papsoe with an amazing gem, thanks! Reddish/brown pour. Light head. Aroma is ham, bacon, sweet malt, and syrup. Sweet and smoke with a bit of band aids. Damn good. Thanks Henrik! blutt59 (6576) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 1, 2010
bottle thanks to bu11zeye, muddy brown pour with no foam, aroma of a burming electric blanket, flavors of tobacco, bandaids and somewhat metallic in a good way Egon (478) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - JAN 25, 2010
Bottle. Brown with beige head. Smoky but not so much as i feared. Roasted malt, sweet as rum. Thin to medium body with low carbonation, Not bad at all, but smoked beers are not a favourite of mine. Rosebud butternuts (2396) - Denton, Texas, USA - JAN 25, 2010
bottle thanks to bu11zeye. poured cloudy amber with a white head. aroma was identical to that of the smoke that is produced from a dentists high rpm drill when it is buried into ones tooth. flavor was smoke and meaty. medium body with low carbonation. thirdeye11 (6162) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JAN 24, 2010
( 25cl bottle dated bb 12-31-12 generously shared by bu11zeye) Pours clear amber with almost no bubbles. Nose of smoke, bandaid, bacon, and fruits. Taste of smoky/salty brisket, liquid smoke with hidden raisins and rum. Nice smoky, sweet, oily finish, but this is a little syrupy.
