It’s pitch-black with a dark-brown, huge, lasting and creamy head. The aroma has notes of bourbon, roasted malt, coffee, licorice, oat – invitingly soft with a clear and exciting edge. The flavour is moderately sweet to sweet with notes of roasted malt, licorice, coffee, oat, bourbon as an exceptionally pleasantly integrated part of the flavour – well what can I say: It’s soft, complex and incredibly well-balanced and nice... - a clear top 5 for me! flemmingwillum (1206) - Nysted, DENMARK - NOV 22, 2010

I don’t believe this. This beer is really unbelieveably amazing. A pitch black beer which only failure is a the lack of a perfect head. Fantastic, delicious aroma of citrus, bourbon, chocolate, caramel, rum and vanilla. Portwine-like taste at first, then it turns into rum/bourbon-chocolate-caramel inferno, citrus, liquorice, smoke, floral hops and ending in a nice, bitter, bit alcoholic finish, Wow! Just amazing!
Bottle. Lots of bourbon in the nose, kind of acidic notes. Taste full: loads of bourbon, dark sugar, coffee, chocolate tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - OCT 22, 2010
Bottle. home. WOW. What can one say? Excellent initial lacing which thins down to a glorious thin cover. Wow. Black tar appearance - opaque.
Massive aroma of bourbon, cream, vanilla, bitter espresso.
Taste is bitter espresso. American bourbon, cream, vanilla, bitter espresso, chocolate, a huge wad of expensive cream, some leather and wood.
Delicate finish of wood; leather, cream. coffee and chocolate. Medium.
This is mesmerising. I hope to have this again. Mikkeller are raising the bar again. Would love to know what bourbon barrels are used for this. Amazing bourbon aging. Really world class brew. Legends. canuck_j (80) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 28, 2011
Aroma: has a thick malt chocolate aroma with a hint of bourbon
Appearance: Black as a woman’s heart ,with a big light brown head
Taste: Dates, raisins, molasses, chocolate, toffee, and a nice roast finish and a bourbon hint
Palate: full bodied with a slick tongue from the oats. Chewy.

On bottle from Gammel Strand Øl & Vin. Pours jet black with a big tanned head of pearly foam that laces the glass heavily. A rich aroma of coffee and oak. Full-bodied oily texture, soft carbonation with a long finish. The taste is dark and lightly sweet. Very filling and perfect for cosying up in a comfy chair in front of the fireplace after a cold autumn day of walking in the woods. Inbreak (5917) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - MAY 13, 2013

Fyldig sødmerik lukt med preg av mørk malt, humle, bourbon, vanilje, kaffi, mørk sjokolade, mørk frukt, litt soyasaus. Fyldig sødmerik litt syrlig smak med preg av mørk malt, humle, bourbon, vanilje, kaffi, sjokolade, mørk frukt, krydder. Middels bitterhet som set litt. Veldig god.
Oily black pour, brown head. Sweet and sugary aroma with lots of bourbon, vanilla and some hops in the end of the aroma. FLavor is sweet and oily. Thick and loaded with bourbon, oak, vanilla and rich toffee. A little hop spice at the end. Great. mR_fr0g (12067) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2010
Bottled from the Cask pub and kitchen london. Pours thick and viscous with a tan brown head that slowly fades to a thin whisp. When cold that aroma of bourbon really stood out, but this slowly diminished as the beer warmed up slightly, letting the dry coffee and toffee aromas come through. Much the same as the aroma the bourbon flavour also faded slightly with increased temperature, which i thought was really good since it was slightly overwhelming in the beginning. Big coffee and sweet caramel flavour and finished dry. The bourbon leave a pleasant warming coating on the mouth. Highly recommended planky84 (3259) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 30, 2010
Bottle from the CP&K, Pimlico. Jet black pour with a fluffy tan head. Very good body. Soothing aromas of vanilla, coffee, chocolate and a little toffee. The taste buds are entertained by an initial flow of vanilla and chocolate followed by a burst of dark roast coffee ending with a very nice bourbon kick. Extremely smooth stuff. Nice, warming alcohol. Exceptional brew.
