   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 5/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 16/20
Belgo (154) - Køge, - FEB 27, 2006
Pours pitch black with a nice firm espressocoloured head. The aroma is dominated by good quality coffee, dark chokolate and a hint of hops. On the palate it is medium- to fullbodied, soft and with roasted notes of espresso coffee, grilled beef, smoke and some hoppiness in the background. Some acidity from the coffee is very present in the aftertaste and hides the bitterness. The powerful acidity is the one thing, that I think is not really my thing, but still, that can’t hide the fact that this is yet another great beer by the best microbrewery in Denmark.

exceptional - the oat on the aroma with a backdrop of cascade deadens the senses before bang, a smooth chocolaty burst with none of that harsh dryness backdrop on the pallet - close to perfect and very enjoyable in small sips

0.33 bottle bought and drink at Majstor za pivo, Belgrade, Serbia. Shared with Višnja 666! Thanks! Very dark brown to black, lasting tan head. Coffee, dark malts, light cocoa, and light soy sauce. Dry and roasty, very coffee-ish. The texture is coffee-like silky, light to medium body, moderate carbonation, alcohol is hidden, lasting dry finish. Good beer, a true example of the style.

Poured from a 330 ml bottle into a tulip glass. Appearance is dark brown-black with almost no froth - the tan froth really only appears from vigorous swirling and not from pouring. Aromas is a mix of roasted malts and dark chocolates, surprisingly, coffee is not that prominent on the nose, but it could be subsumed by the roasted malts aromas. Taste again is dominated by roasted malts, and some dark chocolate flavours, overall bitter throughout. Coffee tastes are mild, and seems to appear in the somewhat acidic nature of the taste. Mouth feel is light to medium bodied, some watery sensation towards the end.
