As I sit here finishing up season 1 of Game of Thrones on DVD, and popping the cap on this, and knowing it is a combination effort of Mikkeller and Nogne O, not only 2 of my favorite Danish brewers but 2 of the best brewers in the world, and knowing how great the Kopi Luwak beers have been in the past, including the splendid Beek Geek Brunch and Breakfast, I admit coming into this review a bit trepidacious, as I know people will accuse me of trans-continental homerism. Those statistically lacking lackies may kindly lick my balls. The bottle here, from Beer God’s Beer God Matt Capone’s marvelous establishment in Norristown, Pennsylvania, is a scant 8.5 ounces, and barely larger than my baby making parts. The pour is thick, raven black, with a barely visible but constant brown head. The nose is velvety, smooth, and inviting, a medley of rich dark malts, smooth as silk coffee, cacao, hops, and lactose. The taste is silky smooth, smoother even than a super models freshly shorned derriere, with rich dark malt, some assertive heat and hops, cacao, dark berry, and super smooth coffee flavors intermingling into a gorgeous tapestry of liquid delight. The cacao and coffee emerge more as it warms, and the overall experience just gets better. This beer would be great at 6 in the morning with a raisin bagel, and great at 6 at night with a maduro cigar. It transcends what a beer can be, what an oak aged beer can be, and gives me hope for human survival over the next 20 years. DoublEE (782) - South Euclid, Ohio, USA - AUG 28, 2012
Super complex! Starts with oatmeal, almonds, appleskin, pears, light alcohol; middle is dominated by cocoa powder and dark bitter chocolate; finishes with coffee beans, burnt sugar, black malts, oak. Tybalt (212) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAR 9, 2013
Pours black with very small brown head. Super rich aroma - almost like figs and brandy. Taste explodes in your mouth - bourbon, coffee, molasses, anise. One of the most flavor packed and complex beers I've ever had. Nice heavy body - finishes incredibly smooth. Beerhunter111 (22268) - P´Castle, GERMANY - FEB 16, 2014
Schwarzes Bier mit schöner bräunlichen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr intensiv röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade. Geschmack sehr intensiv röstmalzig, Kaffee, Schokolade. Wunderbar! Gerbeer (3897) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 20, 2014
Small bottle. Pours black with full tan head. Aromas and flavors are just as excellent as the base brunch with a little more fruit but a tad more alcohol and drier finish. I need a cellar of this stuff.

Beautiful black beer with brown espresso head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, mild alcohol and rather strong coffee. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee. vanilla and alcohol. A bit sweet too. Thick and oily. Great beer. ApisAles (1575) - Greenbelt, Maryland, USA - FEB 11, 2013
Oil black pour with a brown head. Aroma is thick dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark malt, a bit boozy. Flavor is more of the same. Creamy dark chocolate, just the right amount of bitterness and roast from the coffee. The Calvados adds a really excellent layer of complexity and depth. Amazing beer. Kingi (670) - - APR 18, 2016
The calvados on the aroma isnt my favourite. Black with small head. Taste and palate is unbeliavable smooth and nice. Not the strongest and not the most unique, but extremely balanced. k0mpsa (3043) - Tuusula, FINLAND - APR 18, 2016
Bottle at mikkeller bar, copenhagen. Pitch black color, brown head. Wonderful aroma has strong calvados, wood, chocolate notes, licorice, roasty. Smooth silky palate, full body, chocolate, oak, calvados. It’s nearly perfect, so smooth and tasty.
