Clear dark dark brown black color with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, smoke - iodine. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and heavy bitter with a long duration, iodine, peat, dark roasted. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
50 cL bottle. Pours a pitch black with a huge, dense, creamy and chocolate brown head. Aroma is tarish, smoked, coffee, chocolate and hops floral/fruity. Flavour is dominated by the tarish and smoked notes. Light coffee and chocolate note looking through alongside a rough bitterness. Subdued sweetness and hard roasted malt flavoured. Light throat burn. Quite bitter and dry finish. Very distinct islay cask flavours into the far and certainly overall a change from the base beer. Drunk to celebrate my rating number 21,100. Bottled. A pitch black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has notes of iodine, hard roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, smoke, and wood. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of iodine, alcohol, roasted malt, and soy sauce, as well as medium notes of coffee, peated smoke, and wood, leading to a very dry, alcoholic, roasted, and whiskey like finish. The alcohol warms the mouth. joergen (28164) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - SEP 13, 2009

, Helsinki. Quite much pitch black colour with mediumsized yellowish brown head. This one has rather much left of the original beer with the Islay notes not coming in all too dominating, although they are strong. This one has aged very nicely in the barrells
Bottled at Örebro Öl- och Whiskeyfestival. Completely black, rich brown head. Sweet and full bodied with lots of licorice and peat. Bold, but not assaulting. Hugely malty, lots of coffee, lot of whixky. Salty peaty bitterness. Ramps up things perhaps one step too far, but manages to stay on track. Papsoe (25063) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - APR 9, 2010
Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of joergen. Pours pitch black with a dense brown head - really good looking. Aroma of overpowering iodine and tar with a burned ashy backbone. Solid body, ashy burned malts with massive imprints of peaty smoke and a little iodine. Rough burned malty finish. 090410 Travlr (24875) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAR 30, 2010
Bottle from Alvinne, gifted to sebletitje, a.k.a. SeaBass, shared with Ibrew2or3, Hopshunter and HonusWagner. Dark brown, beige head, not much lacing. Whisky is apparent in the aroma, and the middle of the taste. Lots of chocolate, burnt espresso, wood. Slightly too long in the barrel, tasty enough, but not an improvement on the original. madmitch76 (24807) - , Essex, ENGLAND - MAR 14, 2015

Opaque black beer, thick chocolate brown head. Smoky woody nose. Smooth soft palate. Rich stout with in yer face smoky whisky. On the back end there are touches of chocolate, hops and creamy malt. The base beer is a fine beer but this barrel treatment kinda drowns it. Interesting though.
