Pours pitch black with a very thin creamy mocha head. Aroma of roasted malts and coffee beans but the vanilla is also really pronounced, it almost overwhelms the rest. Taste is fairly sweet, but it’s dry and bitter in the finish. Full body, lively carbonation and rich creamy mouth feel. Overall a really exceptional beer.

Bottle share at Mon Petit Cafe, Stuttgart. San Diego version. Mixture of caramel and vanilla, very sweet and strong character. Had it after the maple one and was kind of missing the maple addition.

Shared can from Mikkeller San Diego, at Cardinal Mikkeller tasting. Pitch black colour, minimal tan head of poor retention. Sweetish aroma of malt sugar, vanilla and coffee. Very sweet flavour of vanilla and coffee, too sweet and one-dimensional for my taste.

Tap at the Hive. Holy Ba-Geez is this good stuff. Very dark brown, nearly black with a frothy tan head. The nose is rich chocolate and molasses. The flavors keep going and keep evolving in complex layers of dark chocolate, sweet dark malt, vanilla beans, cocoa powder, coffee, licorice, molasses, raisins, dark fruits. Mild carbonation and a full body. Roasted, bitter chocolate finish goes on forever. Outstanding.

O my.... Perfect black color. Nice head. When you open the bottle you feel... the vanilla aroma. Extremely saturated. When you taste the beer, the coffee and vanilla are very well presented. Very, very, very good beer.
