2012 (thanks to VsXsV). Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is toasted, some tequila, mild fruity and nectary notes as well. Flavour is mild toasted notes, some fruits, mild toffee and some tequila and wooden notes to it. Quite nicely mouthdrying palate.

Bottle. Big black tan foam. Soapy aroma with marked tequila then good waft of cheese. Very sweet and boozy, the BA too pronounced but adds nice spice. Frothy mouthfeel then slight dryness and little oiliness. Ok but not great by Mikkeller standards. daje (4436) - NORWAY - MAY 21, 2013
Bottle, shared february 16th 2013. Thick black body, low fading beige head. Roasty start to the aroma, some wood, and a disturbing alcohol scent followed by blue veined cheese and melted plastic. Taste is sour malt unbalanced with a way too high tequila taste, sugar and acid. Have to admit I’m not a big fan of tequila, and I appreciate experimental beers, but in this case the barrel aging completely destroys a very good beer. The regular BHB is a top notch beer on its own. Aftertaste is alcoholic with tequila aftertaste. We were two guys sharing a bottle, neither of us could finish his glass. Bottle. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate, grapefruit juice, fruity citrus, tequila and oak. Medium body.
Foffern (1877) - Bodø, NORWAY - MAY 14, 2013
Bottle shared with (and great courtesy of) the Bergen tasting crew. Has a deep brown to black colour with a small light brown head. The aroma is marked by spiced liquor along with roasted malt, coffee, wood, crème brûlée and sweet liqueur. Complex. There’s a lot of tequila in a sweet flavour with some spices, roasted malt, coffee and pickles. Is slightly sour. Has a rich and oily mouth feel, and a light bitterness. Small shortlasting head. Aroma is boozy, wood, cocoa, burnt caramel, dark sugar, licorice, grass. Taste is sweet, sugar, sour fruits, sour coffee, wood, sorrel, cocoa, citrus. Low carbonation, medium bitterness. Don’t really like it very much, but still a interesting beer.
Bottle, shared with Foffern and Inbreak at Foffern’s going-away tasting. Pours a jet black body with a small light beige head. Nose is tequila-agave-cacti aromas - quite a lot of it as well - along with the expected coffee and hints of alcohol and paint thinner-ish notes. Weird. Not sure I like this. Taste is astringent bitter alcohol and coffee tones, propelling the tequila-cacti-like tones and hints of dark fruits. Full body, medium carbonation. Too far out, really, and not in a good way. How: Bottle 500ml, consumed soon after receiving it through private importation.
The look: Black body topped by a persistent small tan head.
In long: Repulsive intense nose that reeks of cheap alcohol (bordering rubbing alcohol) awkwardly bending with a chocolate cake. I couldn’t detect any hops in the aroma with the cheap alcohol overwhelming everything. Taste is equally awkward. In mouth you can really taste the tequila and it really doesn’t work with the chocolaty malt backbone. Finish is burning alcohol overwhelming the hops (and this is only 7.5%!?!?!?!?!?). I didn’t finish my first glass, poured the rest of the glass and half the bottle down the drain. Black IPAs need to be in Tequilla Barrels as much as my portly aunt Lise needs to be in skinny jeans.

Opaque black beer, good dark tan head. Semi dry palate, a little crisp. Tangy dark malts well balanced with mildly sour and tangy tequila. A little marmalade hop in the background. Tiny bit of smoke in the minerally semi dry finish. Interesting and tasty.
