Almost opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry, mild fine carbonation. Mild but tangy dark malts. Good cocoa drinking chocolate powder. Light finish brings a touch of coffee. Okay.
Leighton (22307) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2015
Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep brown with a frothy beige head that settles down just a little too quickly for my liking. The aroma holds some edgy coffee, chocolate, roast. Light sweet flavor with fairly authentic black coffee, some baking cocoa, earthy bitterness, faint burnt brown sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more coffee character, subtle dark and dried berries, more bittersweet chocolate notes, scorched earth, wood. The closest a beer has come to being like straight black coffee, which is some kind of accomplishment. Good work, Lervig. Rasmus40 (21990) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - JUN 30, 2014
