On draft at Craft Beer Co. Sweet Christmas, this is a big beer. Pretty compelling appearance, a slightly sludgy reddish brown that almost looks like a really, really old wine (were it not for the carbonation). Fitting I guess. Nose was quite nice too, with some rich BW properties (though a bit of a boozy smack) complemented by a nice full tannic nose. Mouthfeel a bit too hot for me, but what are you gonna do at 12%? Flavors were good, with tons of wood and malt balanced well to avoid overpowering caramelly sweetness, and a nice strong red wine component that makes the base more fruity even as it adds a gentle tart note. Impressive beer. RasmusOtt (2850) - Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 27, 2012
Pours pours hazy brown with a tiny darker beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, red wine, dark sweeter fruits, ripe plums, apple pie and mellow toffee. Taste of sweet caramel, mellow toffee, wood, red wine, sweet grapes, ripe apples. sweet dark fruits, dark cherries, actually a little bit tart, dryness and warming alcohol. Pours rustic, filthy, cloudy brown with a thick light brown head. Smells surprisingly fresh. The red wine is present already, and combined with the sweetness it’s almost smells like apple pie. The taste is sweet, but works very well with the wine. Toffee and malty. Very nicely executed! dimenhetfield (2486) - , Florida, USA - OCT 24, 2012
Bottle opened at my "Massive Mikkeller" tasting. Opened right next to the regular Big Worse. This one, in comparison, had a nice peppery spice aroma mixed with the boozy maltyness. Took me a while to get around to landing this one but I’m happy I finally got it ticked. esp0r (2928) - NORWAY - OCT 19, 2012

Dark amber red, big tanned head. Smells of oak, red wine, malts, some caramel. Taste is medium sweet, alot of oak, some sour wine acids, some caramel and candice sugar. Medium bitter finish, quite resiny. The base beer is one of Mikkeller’s better creations; i have to say that red wine barrelling has decreased the total beer experience for me. Still an ok beer; but also a reminder to all that barrel aging is not always the best idea
Bottle. Clear, light amber color, long lasting tanned head. Aroma is full of alcoholic sweetness and tasty malts. Wine and port flavors in background. Very more than decent. flip_soeperman (880) - NETHERLANDS - OCT 13, 2012
Compared to the big worse this is less drinkable. Vey complex but a few to many tannins for me. Has characteristics of fruit but also of wrange wine. Quite alcoholic and slightly too dry for a barley wine.

Bottle @ mr. Hangover tasting. Aroma is big caramel bready fruity hoppy notes. Fat fruity hoppy notes, followed by big alcoholic caramel bead notes. Long lingering bitter yet sweet hoppy malt goodness in the finish. Awesome. Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 12, 2012
Bottle @ tasting. Hazy reddish pour, huge off-white head. Aroma is full spicy nuts, creamy and slightly fruity. Really well balanced. Thick body, bitter spicy flavor. Great brew. RichTheVillan (8154) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - OCT 7, 2012
