Cloudy dark red beer with a big pale tan fluffy head. Light palate, smooth and a little dry. Low carbonation. Light malt with traces of cream and barrel induced vanilla. Nice touch of red wine, not dominant but with good red berry fruits. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Very nice BA beer that belies it’s strength.
Keg at Craft Beer Co., London. Pours at first murky red-brown but it clears into a lovely, translucent ruby with a fine, off-white head. The nose holds aged malts, light caramel, berries, nice dark wood. big sweet flavor, good dry wood and vinous character, ripe berries, subtle alcohol, rich oak. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, very dry with tons of dry wood, medium sweetness, well toasted malts, mild brown sugar and soft caramel. Great dry, vinous character throughout, not overly sweet. Great. Cloudy dark amber and ruby color. Wonderful aroma, the classic malt of the Bad Worse merges perfectly with light red fruits, berries, and very light vanilla and oak. Strong malt and caramel flavor, evident but not excessive sweetness, some vanilla, with a mild note of red fruits and light acidity; the strong bitterness is maybe a clash here; there is some expected alcohol warmth; light impression of nuts too in the final.
The wine barrel adds an interesting note, but it’s not very cohesive, and doesn’t stand up against some best examples from memory (Fish Tale…).
On tap at Craft Beer Co. Murky red brown. Thin beige head. Lots of red wine barrel. Lots of fruits lots of hops on finish. Doesnt drink its strength. Pretty good. I like the red wine and the hops. Fine
