from Erzbierschof - quite clear red-brown beer with a solid foamy beige head; nice lace; woody aroma of sour cherries and berries; full-bodied, thick and pretty sticky; a solid sweetness soon overwhelmed by a robust bitterness; caramel, marzipan and very woody cherryish and piney finish thewolf (12594) - Kolding, DENMARK - MAY 8, 2011

Clear dark amber pour with no real head. Just a thin beige film. Fat malty caramel aroma, oaky, good red wine notes, vinious, grapes, red currants. Medium carbonation, dry, light oily and frankly fairly light mouthfeel. Which is quite impressive for the ABV. Flavour is caramel sweet, a bit of toffee, mildly toasted, some light notes of milky chocolate, vinious, red currants, oaky and quite dry. Light tannin notes and the red wine is quite apparent, really. Almost coating in mouth in the finish. Very lovely.
cloudy brown, smooth light brown head. Very nice woody bw aroma, dusty. Dry, tight. Faint cellary which suits it well. Flavor is sweet malty, hint of red wine, wood, malts. Long aftertaste slowrunner77 (12044) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 1, 2014
easily my favorite in the Big Worse line. while the bourbon version smooths things out, it was simplistic. this one is dangerously smooth and complex with sweetness from the bw still coming through, alcohol apparent only in the back end of the aroma, a slightly sour tobacco sweetness added to (not instead of) the flavor of the original beer. great stuff, wish i didn’t have to get it on-line."

Bottle that I took to the Saturday night hotel tasting after EBF. Pours a lightly hazed amber with orange highlights and a thin beige head. Not a lot of wine on the nose, but there is a faint hint of wood. Big sweet malt and toast. Loads of oxidized malt, toast. Hot alcohol, more oxidization. Slightly tannic wood and booze. madsberg (11770) - Søborg, DENMARK - FEB 11, 2013
Bottle @ home. Dark amber coloured. Fluffy beige head. Aroma: ripe fruits, wood, dryness, spice, caramel. Flvaour: Alcohol, ripe fruits, sweetness, wood, light liqourice. spice. Medium to full bodied. Ends fruity and alcoholdense. Quite nice. deyholla (11600) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - FEB 9, 2013
Bottle. Pours a near clear deep amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grain and caramel with a bit of booze and an underlying light fruit notes with an odd red wine note. Flavor is similar with sweet caramel and sweet grains that kind of clash with the red wine and boozy note.
