Bottle Farewell to ibrew2or3 Hazy burnt-orange ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Excellent retention. The bouquet is a malty, vinous marriage of caramel, ethanol and toasted oak with a kiss of Cabernet. Full-bodied and velvety with soft carbonation. The flavor is a blend of sweet caramel and bitter, citric, tannic hops. Tilts way bitter. Tannic, raspy, bitter finish that dries out quite a bit. Bottle courtesy of ibrew2or3!

Bottle @ dans house. Hazy, red violet appearance with a tan head. Rich caramel, toffee, light chocolate, slightly fruity, mild vinous aroma. Rich, quite mild red vinous, caramel, toffee, sweet malty flavor. Very nice beer that Im enjoying way more than the normal version.

easily my favorite in the Big Worse line. while the bourbon version smooths things out, it was simplistic. this one is dangerously smooth and complex with sweetness from the bw still coming through, alcohol apparent only in the back end of the aroma, a slightly sour tobacco sweetness added to (not instead of) the flavor of the original beer. great stuff, wish i didnt have to get it on-line."

Bottle. Pours a near clear deep amber with no head whatsoever. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grain and caramel with a bit of booze and an underlying light fruit notes with an odd red wine note. Flavor is similar with sweet caramel and sweet grains that kind of clash with the red wine and boozy note.

Bottle. Murky reddish amber pour with a monster foamy head. Looks amazing. Aroma is spicy, mild oak, and dark fruit. Nice complex taste - spices, sour, wine. Excellent brew!

Bottle that I took to the Saturday night hotel tasting after EBF. Pours a lightly hazed amber with orange highlights and a thin beige head. Not a lot of wine on the nose, but there is a faint hint of wood. Big sweet malt and toast. Loads of oxidized malt, toast. Hot alcohol, more oxidization. Slightly tannic wood and booze.

Mango to cream-yellow, very good head over very deep red-brown beer, lively carbonated with fine bubbling; Alcohol, fusels and C-hops, very fruity (citruspeel, kumquat, figs,...) Again alcohol very much in front; warmin, sweet-bitterish. Some dark chocolate too, and red, vinificating fruit; brown mushroom sauce. Quite well-carbonated, fully viscous and full bodied; Alcoholwarming. Aftertaste is definitely fusely-vinous, with incense aroma. Quite good BW, if severe.

phaleslu (9580) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JAN 13, 2015
375 ml bottle from The Wine and Cheese Place. Pours a hazed amber with a small, wispy off-white head. Has started to dull; 2011 vintage. The nose has held up, though. Notes of caramel, brown sugar, dry grains, toast, oak, cake, vanilla, and red wine - although the vinous character seems to have given way to the underlying barley wine malt sweetness. Light-medium bodied, with low carbonation and a dry mouthfeel. Still pretty good.

50cl bouteille @ RBBWG III, thanks Domiens.

375 ml bottle. BBE 27.05.2023.
Pours dark red color with a small head. Aroma of ripe fruits, some wood, mild malts and resin. Flavor of resinous hops, caramel malts, some wooden notes, toffee and mild vinous notes. Alcohol quite well hidden. Nice.
