Mango to cream-yellow, very good head over very deep red-brown beer, lively carbonated with fine bubbling; Alcohol, fusels and C-hops, very fruity (citruspeel, kumquat, figs,...) Again alcohol very much in front; warmin, sweet-bitterish. Some dark chocolate too, and red, vinificating fruit; brown mushroom sauce. Quite well-carbonated, fully viscous and full bodied; Alcoholwarming. Aftertaste is definitely fusely-vinous, with incense aroma. Quite good BW, if severe.

375 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBWG 2014. Courtesy of & thx! to DomienS. Amber coper with little head. Smells of iron, sweet barrel, touch wine, lots of brown sugar, herbal, feels faded. Taste is bitter wine leaves, iron, sweetish, simple, leaves, bitter malts, cereal, some bitter hops in the back, plenty of brown sugar. Touch less carb. Not too impressive, wasn’t to big of a fan of the regular one & this one is even a dash lesser. It is okay but it is too simple & underwhelming which is not something that a beer at this price point should be. Mikkeller has many other beers which deliver the good in a far more satisfying way than this one.

18/I/14 - 37.5cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ RBBWG III, my place - BB: 27/V/23 (2014-93) Thanks to DomienS for sharing the bottle!

Clear red amber beer, creamy irregular light beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, malts, some citrus, grains, bit rural. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: bit sweet, sugary start, malts, some caramel, hoppy, dried fruits, some citrus. Aftertaste: pretty bitter, sweet and sugary touch, caramel, vanilla, some citrus, hoppy. Complexer than it’s regular version, but I preferred the regular nonetheless.

Bottle. Dark amber beer with a tan head. Caramel and red wine aroma with oak and vanilla. Caramel and light toffee flavor with oak, earth, and vanilla. Medium-plus bodied. Caramel and light fruitiness lingers with oak and earthiness.

On tap at Cardinal. Pours deep red/amber with a tiny white head. Aroma of wood, oak, sweet juicy red berries. Taste is vinous, oaky , lots of barrel here. Resinous end, some stinging nice mint at the final, which is lingering, bringing the mouthfeel dry and clean at the end, good one.

4/30/11. 375mL bottle courtesy mlunger12. Cloudy reddish pour with a small tan head that forms a ring and sticks. Huge aroma of alcohol, oak, vanilla, butter, and a hint of dark tannins. Sweet flavor upfront with awesome oak character - oak, vanilla, butter, coconut, and more. Way better flavor than aroma. Nice!

Courtesy of ksurkin. My favorite bottle format, green 0.375L with super wide cap, pours murky amber with copper edges and full mocha head. The aroma is big pine hops, earthy hops, sweet slick malts and some citrus hops that feed into tart red wine like notes. The taste has pulses of tart red wine and wood that are tempered by thick sweet malts and robust levels of pine hoppiness. Behind those notes some spicy hops and earthy hops seem to rattle around in the background. Into the finish sweet maltiness seems to roam around amid tart red wine and bitter hops.

(Bottle) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty vinous nose with dried fruit, oak wood, caramel, red wine, rum raisins and a touch of alcohol. Fruity, malty, vinous taste with notes of caramel, red wine, oak wood, tannins, burnt sugar, raisins and a vinous, warming finish with a slightly bitter-sweet finish. A slight red wine tartness comes through after a while. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. A bit boozy, but really tasty with a good wood character. Very nice.

sample @ home, thanks veliempojot!
Aroma is rather oaky with some red wine tones and hints of alcohol. Flavour has red wine, oak, some caramel and toffee-like ’Mikkeller house aroma’. Hides the alcohol relatively well. Not much of the original beer left. Better than I expected still.
