Complex aroma of brown sugar, oak, red wine, caramel, ripe red fruits, toffee, a touch of alcohol. Flavour is quite sweet with a lot more note of red wine. A bit sticky and cloying. I enjoyed this better than the original Big Worse, a bit less sweet and the wine barrel aging has paid off well.

On draft at Craft Beer Co. Sweet Christmas, this is a big beer. Pretty compelling appearance, a slightly sludgy reddish brown that almost looks like a really, really old wine (were it not for the carbonation). Fitting I guess. Nose was quite nice too, with some rich BW properties (though a bit of a boozy smack) complemented by a nice full tannic nose. Mouthfeel a bit too hot for me, but what are you gonna do at 12%? Flavors were good, with tons of wood and malt balanced well to avoid overpowering caramelly sweetness, and a nice strong red wine component that makes the base more fruity even as it adds a gentle tart note. Impressive beer.

375 ml. bottle, bottled a year ago. Poured in to a snifter. Dark amber colour with a reddish hue. Thin, tan head. A vinous aroma mixed with a heavy caramel malts. The red wine barrels really shines through: Red berries, oak, vanilla, and dark, dried fruits. A good hops presence, resin and floral. Taste is sweet. Full body, oily feel and a soft carbonation. Long lasting bitter finish with that excellent red wine barrel touch. A slight hint of alcohol. Excellent, this beer shows the perspective of barrel aging.

12.7oz bottle picked up at WLV poured into my Rodenbach Grand Cru glass... Pours a medium brown with lots of brick notes, medium clarity. A huge light tan head rises up to fill half the glass, great retention and lacing. Uglyish body hurts a great head here... The aroma is awesome, the beer is extremely malty with tons caramel, whopper malt, some oak, and a light red wine finish. This is outstanding except for the finish turns a bit fruity which doesnt go with this... The taste is a let down compared to the fantastic nose, the maltyness is mostly gone replaced with more oak, a touch of sour and red wine. The finish is really flat with oak, alcohol, and a hint of hops. Really really disappointing. I cant recommend this right now especially at the price. Heavy seas had a red wine barrel aged beer that was a little better than this.
