Bottle @ tasting. Hazy reddish pour, huge off-white head. Aroma is full spicy nuts, creamy and slightly fruity. Really well balanced. Thick body, bitter spicy flavor. Great brew. DesertDevil (699) - Arizona, USA - DEC 14, 2012
Bottle. pours rich, clean burgundy with an odd thin cirrus-like head. Aroma of sweet figs, and some vinous notes. Taste of intense sweet wine and vanilla that quickly transitions to oak and some cherry tones with a hint of caramel maltiness and some peppery spice. Tannins are quite evident. Very carbonated, sort of champagne-like, with a dry finish that complements the beer. Well done, Mikkeller. Foffern (1982) - Bodø, NORWAY - JAN 19, 2013
Bottle at home. Pours a pretty clear brown amber colour with a big frothy beige head. Incredibly rich and malty aroma with lots of oak, sweet malt, marzipan, fudge, syrup, caramel and some alcohol. Not far from a cognac. The flavour follows up with a complex mixture of the aroma with licorice, spices and a touch of roast in the end. Very rich and sticky mouthfeel, and a light to medium bitterness. A rich barley wine with a complex aroma and flavour. Almost like a journay. Stuu666 (14838) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 13, 2015
Keg at the Mikkeller bar. Pours clear ruby, nose is malty toffee, caramel, berries, wood, taste is similar, quite fruity. jspronck (162) - BELGIUM - MAY 20, 2015
Reddish amber color with beige head. Fruity, malty aromas with dried fruit, plum, wood, caramel, red wine. In mouth, fruit, red wine, wood, warm alcohol finish. Full body, with a touch of sweetness. Can feel the ABV but not overwhelmingly so. Very nice.

37.5 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown to to deep amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, alcoholic and slight phenolic. Fruity, alcohol and dense caramelish. More smooth and fruiity than the bourbon version. Mild acidic touch. Bitter and fruity finish. Theis (15151) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - JAN 16, 2011
Bottle at MikkellerBAR. Cloudy amber/brown - white head. Nutty. Raisins. Wooden. Oakey. Licorice. Red wine. Minerals. Caramel. Sharpness. Fruity. Sweetness. Nice. mixmasterob (1060) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 6, 2011
Murky dark red pour with a fluffy beige head. Lace, thick. Aroma was big caramel malt, sweet, notes of vanilla, some wood and then some vinous notes. Very intriguing and quite delightful. Flavors were also vinous, very wine like. Not as sweet as I expected although caramel made an impact. Lightly bitter finish, woody and slightly dry. Big wine in the finish. Mouthfeel was super viscous, lightly carbonated but fitting. Not as ’profound’ as the bourbon but absolutely fantastic. Yet another outstanding brew from Mikkeller. mcberko (18950) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 6, 2012
375mL bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out the red wine barrels, with loads of caramel malt, raisins, dates, figs, candied sugar and booze - quite hot. Flavour has been nicely massaged into a dry vinous dominated one, with dried fruits, toffee and booze. Dry, vinous, boozy palate, with a sort of muted aftertaste. Excellent. fiulijn (21214) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 17, 2012
Draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen
Cloudy dark amber and ruby color. Wonderful aroma, the classic malt of the Bad Worse merges perfectly with light red fruits, berries, and very light vanilla and oak. Strong malt and caramel flavor, evident but not excessive sweetness, some vanilla, with a mild note of red fruits and light acidity; the strong bitterness is maybe a clash here; there is some expected alcohol warmth; light impression of nuts too in the final.
The wine barrel adds an interesting note, but it’s not very cohesive, and doesn’t stand up against some best examples from memory (Fish Tale…).
