Pours rustic, filthy, cloudy brown with a thick light brown head. Smells surprisingly fresh. The red wine is present already, and combined with the sweetness it’s almost smells like apple pie. The taste is sweet, but works very well with the wine. Toffee and malty. Very nicely executed! RasmusOtt (2764) - Aarhus, DENMARK - OCT 27, 2012
Pours pours hazy brown with a tiny darker beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, red wine, dark sweeter fruits, ripe plums, apple pie and mellow toffee. Taste of sweet caramel, mellow toffee, wood, red wine, sweet grapes, ripe apples. sweet dark fruits, dark cherries, actually a little bit tart, dryness and warming alcohol. npwgallagher (52) - valparaíso, CHILE - NOV 20, 2012

Cloudy dark red beer with a big pale tan fluffy head. Light palate, smooth and a little dry. Low carbonation. Light malt with traces of cream and barrel induced vanilla. Nice touch of red wine, not dominant but with good red berry fruits. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Very nice BA beer that belies it’s strength.
375 ml. bottle, bottled a year ago. Poured in to a snifter. Dark amber colour with a reddish hue. Thin, tan head. A vinous aroma mixed with a heavy caramel malts. The red wine barrels really shines through: Red berries, oak, vanilla, and dark, dried fruits. A good hops presence, resin and floral. Taste is sweet. Full body, oily feel and a soft carbonation. Long lasting bitter finish with that excellent red wine barrel touch. A slight hint of alcohol. Excellent, this beer shows the perspective of barrel aging. kraddel (8145) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - JAN 18, 2014

Taste is sweet , not much of the barrel . grains . nice ! Fritz123 (1535) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - OCT 12, 2014
At home shared with Dan. Small snifters. Pours a muddy brown with a slight head. Aroma is bread, sweet malts, cardboard, dark fruits, merlot grapes, barrel, and vanilla. The taste is bold with a solid barleywine backbone with caramel malts, vanilla, dark fruits, and booze. You also get the red wine grapes and barrel aging smoothness. Finish is wine flavors with a solid booziness. Very well balanced and flavorful. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation. I really like this. kevinator (2221) - The Colony, Texas, USA - SEP 27, 2015
This gets points for uniqueness. Aroma and flavor of bready malt, caramelized sugar, hops, oak and red wine tartness. Color was deep brown with a red tint. Full palate and a slightly dry finish. BlazerT (1108) - Sosnowiec, POLAND - MAY 7, 2017
