UPDATED: DEC 10, 2007 I gotta Trump this one. Pours brownish amber with a full, lingering froth. Superb lacework displaying a full canopy and a thick fluffy ring. Aomas of fruitcake, grassy herbs, and oily new leather. Medium full nectar w/ ample residual effers that are very soft. They seem to just glide around like a gentle wind. Texture is like loose knit cotton. Nice! This brew is not overly sweet. It just barely makes sweet on the rickter scale...for a Barlewy Wine that is. Dark plumby flavors with grapes, cassis, leather, peachpit, kiwi, melon rind. The finish has a lingering hop that keeps me going. The 12% abv doesn’t even taste. Very well balanced. This is a world class BW in every right. Keep up the good work amigos. Highly recommended. SudsMcDuff (8389) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUL 20, 2008

"I wish it were winter so I could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it and melt it in the spring time and drink it! " ...abv works perfectly ...amazing stuff ..."good blow this is" ..only my second ever perfect 5! davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - SEP 9, 2011
On tap at biero. Full marks for me. Aromas of caramel, butter, with hints of grass and alcohol. Taste is extremely long, with sweet, bitter, and sour notes. Palate is syrupy and full bodied. Amber, with a frothy head. dwyerpg (6078) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - OCT 18, 2011
Great aroma of molasses and fruit notes. Looks great. This is truly excellent. A nice molasses but zesty and bubbly flavor, with lots of floral notes. Truly top notch. Worth every penny. grunx (367) - - APR 1, 2011

Barwa: Brązowo bordowa. przejrzyste.
Piana: Niska i szybko opada. Dorobnopęcherzykowa o żółtawej barwie.
Aromat: Słodowy, czuć też owoce, zwłaszcza śliwkę i wiśnię. Pojawia się też nuta miodowa. Lekko landrynkowe.
Demens (425) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 23, 2016
0,375l bottle. Very thick hazy dark brown colour with long lasting tan head. Aroma: Very rich, rasin notes first, caramel, nuts (especially almond when the beer gets a bit warmer), redcurrant. Not harsh, sophisticated. Taste: Oh yeah. Sweet and very rich in malts, thick syrup like drink. Than the high alcohol shows up with some tarty caracter (redcurrant) but just for a few seconds before the full pleasent bitter mouthfeel rules the feel. (almond) Than the sweet dessert like caracter comes again and it’s well balanced with the bitter tone. This is what I call a complex beer. Very thick and creamy the texture. Full body with almost no carbonation at all. Long dry and bitter finish (with the almond tone in the taste). Amazing beer for celebration times. JensenTaster (1719) - DENMARK - APR 13, 2008
(on bottle, this beers rating no. 250) Clear as cognac, chestnut color, small, white and steady head. Now, I know Cascade, maybe Centennial, but Nugget? No, but the mixture of the 3....it´s freaking magic. First of fresh cut pinewood, shoeploish, dirt. Then more sweet aromas; leather, old furniture, some winebar on Madeira. Small and perky carbonation.. And here the malty wood, the tobacco and the warmth of massive, aged alcohol strickes my palate, while the tastes of pears in brandy, canesugar and a whole 12-course dinner from a huntingparty in the hungrian forrests, with it´s fat, charcoal, bread, smoke, solid gunoil, wet dogs, laughing men, rich and tender meat, century-old tables and firm vegetabels, just rolls across my tounge. Hell, the depth of that alcoholburst, is so full, I get warm in my stomack, while the beer still is in my mouth. This is überbeer, no doubt. Merrill (79) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUL 17, 2009
Deep red-brown with off white head that stays. There are lot of yeast flotsam. Aroma is rich caramel and astringency. Flavor is very rich deep caramel and some bourbon, burnt wood and alcohol. Hop spiciness underlies it all. This is a very interesting, well put together BW. Earthy and very strong with a long finish that stays tasty. In a world where BW can be any namby-pamby, this ones the biggest and worst that I can remember. JimisDose (13) - Dallas, Texas, USA - FEB 27, 2012
Pours a nice carmel orange which comes through on the palate. This beer is a beautiful mixture of caramel and bitters. The caramel even comes through on the nose. Never a big fan of caramel after this beer I may get a longing for some caramel with bitter dark chocolate.
Mikkeller isn’t stingy with the hops or yeast in this bottle conditioned beer as you can see yeast floating in every pour.
