Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Gently hazy amber pour with a small off white head. Superbly enticing nose of bourbon, wood, sweet malt, booze and fruits. Smooth, slightly sticky mouthfeel. Flavour was sweet and complex with notes of caramel, vanilla, apple, wood, and spice with the bourbon lurking in the shadows alongside some slowly simmering hop bitterness. Loads to enjoy here. Drinks nothing like the ABV, and as a consequence sneaks up and kicks you squarely on the ass towards the end of the bottle. Cracking stuff.

30/04/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (375ml bottle).

Small off-white head that is slow to fall, but leaves little to no lacing. Big peppery vanilla aroma. Wood, caramel, raisins. Taste is along the same lines with a big alcohol presence. Tons of vanilla. Bitter backend. Thin. Not too bad.

Shared this big brew with a friend. Still got way too buzzed for a half a beer. The pour is a dark orangey amber with a thick fizzy head that dies to a thin yellowish cap. The nose has a massive bourbon note with a huge sweet malt and a whisky-eque booze note. You cant really hide the alcohol at 19%. The taste is sweet toffee and biscuits with a rich bourbon and a massive desert rich malt. Also get notes of vanilla, chocolate and a surprising fruity taste. The finish has a warm alcohol akin to brandy or cognac. This is just a massive and delcious brew.

DuffMan (10072) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 11, 2011
Bottle, shared with Brian and Steve. Hazy medium orange amber with a surprisingly lively golden crown, given the ridiculous 19%ABV (usually these booze bombs pour pretty flat). Can you smell the bourbon in this? Just ask the guy across the room whos looking for the open whiskey bottle. Yikes! Flavor is rich sweet toffee barely shouldering the big bourbony flavors, lots of bourbon, vanilla, dry dusty old wood, candied oranges, spices. Warm, bordering on hot, but an enormously appealing Christmas dessert sipper. Yum.

500ml bottle pours a dark amber brownish color with a small off-white head which leaves only a small amount of lace on the glass. Aroma is a fruity with some malts and alcohol. Taste is fruity with some malty sweetness and an immediate and lasting alcohol burn and an earthy hop bitterness as the alcohol leaves the palate. A very strong and tasty barley wine that needs to be tried at least once.
