No freeze distilling needed. This beer has been barrelaged 10 times on different bourbon barrels. It took us two years to bring the imperial stout Black up from the original 18% ABV to the amazing 26,1%.How about the taste? There is a reason it is called the “Black Fist”. Decant it as we suggest in the serving tips, and you will have a mindblowing experience. This beer is complex.

Shared a bottle yesterday with a friend. Black liquid with a very small brown head which disappeared in a few seconds. Lots of caramel in the aroma along with roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Very sweet taste of bourbon, caramel, chocolate. Light bitterness. Nice alcohol burn, it wasn’t as harsh as I thought it would be. Creamy and thick texture. soft carbonation. Not that complex at all, still a great beer and a bomb of flavours.

From the 375 ml bottle. Slick oil and booze in nose with some chocolate and a lot of booze. Good in small sips.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Potężne, bardzo bogate piwo o likierowej wręcz gęstości. Paloność, kawa, likier kakaowy, lukrecja, ciemne owoce. Wyraźny alkohol, ale nie aż tak jak w Black Damnation: Double Black. Piwo-wyzwanie :)

Dark translucent brown. Nose is very hot boozy fumes with some dark roast malts. Taste is hot and sweet with flavors of charge and barrel and hot booze. Slightly burn going down.

Bottle: Served in a taster: Small creamy beige light brown head/lacing on top of a dark brown beer with a ruby shine coming through. Aroma us awesome! A great marriage between bourbon, wood/oak, vanilla, caramel, roast, fudgy, some marzipan and chocolate/soy tints with an earthy sprinkle. Flavour is unbalanced and of course alcohol burning... Liquorice, chocolate, cough syrup, whiskey tints, bitter warm crazyness, lots of strange herbal tints... Messy... Aftertaste is herbal, spice/alcohol burn edgy, malts, light dry, not to good bitter... Overall very meh... Low carbo, creamy oily and spicy/alcohol burn mouthfeel which dries up at the end, between medium and fuller bodied. Aroma is sublime and the only good thing about this beer! The rest is meh at best!

Bottle, 12/27/2015. Pours black, minimal carbonation apparent. Aroma is sweet dark fruit, raspberry syrup, cocoa dust and brownie batter, very mild roast but rich vanilla and bourbon, booze not too apparent at all in the nose. Taste is sweet chocolate, some soy, intense roast and bitterness melding with boozy bourbon, lingering booze a bit much. Medium, viscous body. Smells wonderful but taste a bit too aggressive.

375cl bottle served in a snifter. Went through the recommended procedure of chilling, decanting and letting to breathe. Pours dark brown with some rogue bubbles taking a short lived trip around the rim. Aroma is powerful buttery vanilla and sweet overripe fruits with a huge alcohol presence. Taste is very strong with the Black being very secondary to the bourbon and a huge alcoholic kick - too much for a beer to be honest. Mouthfeel was too watery for a stout and particularly one this strong. A little one-dimensional and not the massive complex monster that Mikkeller themselves advertise. Had kept this a long time and waited for an occasion suitable to crack open a £30 bottle - even though I was pleased I opened it and have tried it is certainly not worth the money and doesn’t really come under my radar as being a beer. However, if you drink it as a spirit then it is an entirely different ballgame but there are much better beers and spirits at this price point. A nice experience - nothing more.

37.5 cl bottle @ home shared with a few people. Pours black with a tiny tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma and flavour are chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, and dried fruit - with warming alcohol in the finish.
