I liked this a lot. It was a healthy reminder of the reason I starting choosing to drink beer!

Bottle shared with BBGTC, vintage 2010. Pours translucent black, with almost no head at all. Aroma is dark malts, with bread, leather, bourbon and wooden barrels, as well as notes of coffee. Medium body, with light body and very soft carbonation. Flavour is burned malts, with raw cocoa, charcoal and earthy notes, as well as leather, tannins and bourbon barrels.

30.05.2016, 0,375l bottle (2010 vintage) shared @ BBGTC tasting:
Small slightly bubbly mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry mineraly, dark malts, burnt sugar, minerals, booze, oak, licorice, dark sugar, grass, weeds, burnt coffee. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry, dark malts, burnt sugar, booze, minerals, bark, oak, weeds, burnt coffee, licorice, grass. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and burnt watery mouthfeel. Fair enough, probably way over the top...

375 ml bottle at home purchased a few years ago. Pours dark brown to black in color with a minimal beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, bourbon, honey, coffee, I had this fresh with many of the other variants and remember it being more bourbon forward, now flavors are more balanced, some oxidation, low carbonation, still good.

375 ml bottle purchased from The Wine and Cheese Place in 2010 or 2011. Opened blindly alongside all other variants. Pours a deep, nearly opaque dark brown with minimal tan head that settles into a ring. This one has notes of cocoa, fudge, vanilla, honey, oak, coffee, dry roasted malts, and just a wee hint of dark dried fruits. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, smooth, rich mouthfeel. My guess was Rum, given the more prominent barrel character and hint of dark fruit, but the fact it was Bourbon was a bummer to me after my extensive experience with the spirit and barrel treatment for beer. Damn.

Pitch black, brown highlights, warm yellowish golden head. Beautiful. Smell is sour fruitiness mixed with coffee and dark chocolate. Lots of leather, metallic, roasted nuts, fizzy spiciness. And espresso! Salty silty, touch of soy sauce, drop. Very subtle hoppy background. Taste starts of sour, almost vinegary, like a geueze or saison. Then the coffee bitterness takes over. Suprisingly both extremes remain quite distinct. Oily feel, lots of spicy fizziness. Very surprising balance. As I hold it in my mouth Im still doubting how it can work. Brilliant! Feels like its a whisky barrel ripener, thats how full it is. The alcohol is there as warmth nut barely plays a role in the taste.
