I really looked forward to this one. Both Mikkeller Black Hole and Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfest Bourbon Barrel Aged Edition were close to the ultimate beer expierience seen with my eyes, and as this is expected to flavorwise be somewhat a mix of the two brews, it just couldn’t be nothing less than fantastic. As it turned out right from the start, I was right.
Completely black beer with a very nice beige head and lacings. Aroma is fantastic with wood, vanilla, bourbon, liquorice, chocolate and cherries. Flavor has a perfectly balanced sweetness, and is loaded with wood, vanilla, berries, plums, strawberries, cherries, a distinct but not too overwhelming or alcoholic touch of bourbon. It ends slightly alcoholic and very bitter. This is simply fantastic brew art! Soft, thick, perfect palate. The first 5.0 beer rating from me.
Bottle from Ledgers. Black with a creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate coffee bourbon vanilla and roasted grain. Bright velvety palate. Tastes of chocolate and coffee up front followed by bourbon vanilla and oak and finishing with a floral honey and malt flavor with a sticky molasses and chocolate taste lingering at the very end. Complex and complimentary flavors through each transition. Alcohol very well hidden. This might be my favorite black hole yet. Christopsy (137) - SCOTLAND - MAY 5, 2013
WOW!! This is a BIG BEER!!! Robust, full bodied stout! This is what I expected from Mikeller. Coffee, licorice, beer, and bourbon flavors explode in the mouth... Small, tan head. (Oct 2012) llkc (2653) - århus, DENMARK - JUN 13, 2014

Strong aroma is smoky with notes of coffee, unsweet chocolate and molasses, with a firm woody bourbon overtone - very appetizing. It pours a luscious opaque sable with a VERY thick and persistent fluffy light tan head. Flavor is - SU-PERB! Rich and smoky, strong tones of quality roast coffee, unsweet chocolate, molasses, caramel, charred wood and good bourbon. How could I complain? Texture is not just full-bodied, it is thick as cream and fairly tingly with a strong alcohol bite. This beer is danged near perfect, and a MUST for all stouties!

Loved this. Drank at home from a bottle. Dark black coffe, tobacco, sweet dark raisins and coal. Yummy, bitter, tart and black. Great stuff, well rounded. Buongiorgio00 (934) - - FEB 11, 2014
6/26/10. Sampled at the Tally Tasting 2010, courtesy Blazer06. Awesome buttery and vanilla bourbon aroma that comes through awesomely in the flavor. Really good! b79turner (260) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - JAN 17, 2012
Fantastic brew! Bottle poured into a snifter glass. Pours a black color with a tan head. Bourbon, bourbon everywhere! Wonderfully crafted beer, this is the best of the barrel aged black hole series I’ve tried thus far! BVery (11209) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - APR 6, 2012
UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Bottle. Very dark pour with a big foamy brown head. Rich bourbon and wood nose. Full palate. Taste is wood, bourbon, some booze heat, and a bit of chocolate. Awesome.
