375 ml bottle purchased from The Wine and Cheese Place in 2010 or 2011. Opened blindly alongside all other variants. Pours a deep, nearly opaque dark brown with minimal tan head that settles into a ring. This one has notes wood, booze-soaked berries, caramel, mild roasted malts, honey, and vanilla. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a dramatically coating mouthfeel. My guess was White Wine after scratching out Rum, as I was having issues in the Wine-Cognac-Rum department and ended up getting them all mixed up. Oh well. Tap (from old notes, not aged). Same dark mahogany color as others in the series; tan head. Roast, chocolate, and slightly sweet boozy aromas. 375ml bottle from the Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Very dark black in colour with a long lasting brown head, excellent lacing. The aroma is roasty, lots of chocolate, sweet, woody, dark fruits and some alcohol. The flavour is very sweet and smooth, woody, dark chocolate, caramel, alcohol. Sweet mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, sweet and warm. This is nice. The barrel aging didn’t thin this one out. "first heavy hitter of the night, and it was a good one. a little on the sweet side but soooo smooth, and the cognac flavors and aroma blend so nicely with the already sweet coffee, vanilla, and honey from the stout. a treat."

Smells.. Sweet roasted sugar/caramel, choc, vanilla, oak and cognac hints.

Black with a 1/2" desaturated khaki head that quickly dissipates to a thin sheet and decently thick ring. Minimal lacing with a couple very jagged peninsulas. Orange and brown highlights are visible at the edges.
Smell is on the milky sweet side but includes a full gamut of imperial stout characteristics that blend and flow smoothly. Everything from toasted malt and sugar to coffee, lactose, dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla, molasses and anise. The body is medium-heavy, somewhat runny and velvety, clinging to my palette leaving a warm sense of spirit and caramel. Aftertaste shows off the barrel aging in it’s most naked state with coffee and dark fruit to compliment in the background.

Aroma is nicely balanced between the heavy roasted stout and cognac barrels, vanilla and dark fruits shine here. Taste is slightly alcoholic, lots of dark malt, vanilla, cognac and wood. Some chocolate too. Nice complex roast and vanilla finish.
