Tasted on 12/3/11 from a 375mL corked and caged bottle purchased at West Lakeview Liquors. Pours an opaque oily black with some fizzy light brown head that leaves a very thin layer of lace. The nose features peaty Islay Scotch, with tons of bitter espresso, Black Strap molasses, and vanilla. The flavor is dominated by the peaty Scotch, with a very ashy note, espresso bitterness, and a nice vanilla and honey note. The body is full with very light carbonation and a very long peaty Scotch, ashy, and bitter espresso finish.

Bottle 0.375l. Cloudy, brown to black colored. AROMA- strongly peated whiskey, dark chocolate. FLAVOR- slightly sweet, strong alcohol presence, dark chocolate, whiskey, peat, cocoa powder, ash.
Too thin bodied for me, unbalanced.

Bottle. Black, without head. Aroma of whisky, peaty smoky tones, chocolate, ash. Taste is neutral, a bit sweet, burn bitter finish. Cocoa powder, peaty, chocolate, pralines, alcohol. Medium body (a bit thin for abv), low carbonation.
Interesting, but too empty, without richness of another impies, almost one-dimensional.
Personal note: 4/4 wedding anniversary impie.

Near black pour with a thin lid of tan bubbles that later are just a ring about the glass. Roasted malt and iodine in the aromas. Quite dry from the start with black malt and tar bitterness. Slightly buttery. Flavors seem a bit thin along with the body 9/11

375 ml bottle purchased from The Wine and Cheese Place in 2010 and 2011 - I had one of each year. Both opened blindly alongside all other variants. Both pour a deep, nearly opaque dark brown with minimal tan head that settles into a ring. Both have notes of peat, earth, charred wood, dark chocolate, molasses, rubber, burnt sugar, coffee grounds, and smoke. Both are medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a coating, woody, peaty, and smooth mouthfeel. But the 2010 version was a little more intensely barrel-forward, and the 2011 version was a little bit mellower and thinner. I had the years mixed up in my guesses. 2010 got a 4.0, 2011 got a 3.8 that was changed to a 3.9.

No head, just some bubbles. Aroma is dry mineraly, peat, weeds, leather, minerals, alcohol, bark, oak, dark malts, burnt sugar. Taste is dry peated, bark, peat, leather, minerals, weeds, oak, alcohol, paper, burnt sugar. Medium bitterness, dry mineraly mouthfeel. Not really my cup of tea.

Mikkeller black hole BA fight. Peat whiskey BA vs cognac BA Whiskey.. looks Black, sml dark tan head. Smells.. Big smokey, wood, earthy.. Just a touch of the choc coming through Tastes.. Heavy peat & smokey whiskey dominates, lingering burnt choc and heavy roasted malts. Cognac.. Looks cola black, no head. Smells..dark roasted malts and choc, cognac Tastes.. Smooth dark choc, some coffee, big heavy roast, loads of cognac barrel.
