Bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard. Black colour with a beige head. Roasted malts, coffee, caramel, slight chocolate, nuances of red wine. Complex beer with nice warming alcohol. Soft carbonation. Great imperial stout.
October 2017 - Bottle share at CBC Islington. Big thanks to Kenny. As 'Mikkeller Black Hole Barrel Aged Edition Red Wine'. Opaque black with very little head. Aroma is cocoa powder, black forest gateaux, blackberries. Body is smooth with low carbonation. Taste is cocoa, redcurrant, port, mixed berries, little tannic dryness, spicy-woody, long breathy tart fruits. Very good. 30Oct2017 Intense dark chocolate, Christmas cake, sweet, dark chocolate, cacao, dark, toasted, roasted toast, dark malts, alcoholic prunes, red wine barrels. Hazy, very dark brown, no head. Light bitter. More bittersweet dark, toasted, burnt malts, baking cacao, red wine barrel, soft to flat carbonation, full bodied. Amazing, super intense Impy. backlog, Bottle from Capones, shared with friends. We opened three different versions of this series. Pours a deep black with an average to smaller head. Notes of oak, coffee bean, chocolate, roasted malt, spruce, and sour grapes. Some more dark fruit and wine as it warms but the roast and dark malt dominates. Smells of coffee, tar, red fruit (red grapes). Heavy red wine smells. Some wooden barrel scents.
Pours pitch black with some short lasting small tan head.
Taste is dry, cocoa beans, chocolate, some coffee. A lot of red wine as the beer gets warmer. The finish brings some wooden barrel tastes.
Almost no carbonation.

Tiny bubbly shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry mineraly, burnt sugar, dark malts, licorice, oak, alcohol, weeds, bark, minerals, dark sugar, grass. Taste is slightly sour-ish mineraly, weeds, minerals, sour grass, oak, burnt sugar, bark, alcohol, ashes, paper, licorice. Medium bitterness, slightly dry and burnt watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.
Bottle, 2011 edition, thanks to pentaz. Black with a small light brown head. Earthy, wood, roasted malt, minerals, chalck. Somehow crisp. Honey. Soft carbonation, filling sweetness, good balance.
