Bottled. Almost black but with a slight red shine under a lazing dark chocolaty brown head. The aroma has strong notes of roasted malt, raising, over ripe fruits, chocolate, and malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and wood, as well as medium notes of chocolate and some rum, leading to an extremely dry, roasted, chocolate, and woody finish. Bottled. Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is black hole with some wood and mild rum notes. Flavour is quite much the same. This is beautifully balanced and actually quite complex compared to the red wine one. Travlr (26069) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - SEP 6, 2010

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2013 6th June 2010. RBESG 10 Grand Tasting at the Brasserie 4:20 Warehouse. Big thanks to Alex for allowing us to take this beer off of his shelves! Black beer. Very dry dark malt. A little rum on the back of the tongue. Some spicy heat in the finish. It’s a decent beer but dissapointing from Mikkeller - we expecting a lot more rum and barreling and general sumptuosness! 3.0 Papsoe (25056) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 11, 2010

Two years on and most of the heat has gone from this and it’s developed nice dark chocolate but the barrel ageing is pretty light and I am still not sure I would have spotted any rum if I had not known it was here.
