Pours black, with a finger thick, rocky, mocha head. Aroma is roasted malts with bread, toffee and wood, as well as chocolate, licorice and sweet herbal notes. Creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is roasted malts, with bread, chocolate and sweet licorice, as well as herbal notes with light agave and dark fruity notes.

Nice light brown slightly bubbly-creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is dry boozy, weeds, bark, booze, minerals, sour grass, ashes, dusty cellar, hay. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish boozy, weeds, oak, minerals, bark, sour grass, dark sugar, spices, sour fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry sour-ish mouthfeel. Fair enough.
Consumed for “Drink It Now” day, hosted by GenDV138. Poured a pretty black-brown color. Aroma was really bitter, burnt coffee. Lots of robust, bitter chocolate. 375 ml bottle purchased from The Wine and Cheese Place in 2010 or 2011. Opened blindly alongside all other variants. Pours a deep, nearly opaque dark brown with minimal tan head that settles into a ring. This one has notes of dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, honey, molasses - it’s very sweet compared to the others. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a sweet, smooth, coating mouthfeel. My guess was regular, given the lack of barrel character, but it was Tequila, which rocked everything I (and the others) were thinking for these.

Tap. Less of a head, but still medium to dark tan in color on a opaque mahogany body. Sweeter agave notes; almost fruity; light chocolate and roasty aromas. Quite sweet in the flavor, dark fruits, prune, touch of vegetal agave, and the heat comes out a bit more in this version for me. Medium to thicker viscous body. 375ml bottle from the Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York. Deep black in colour with a thin tan head, good lacing. The aroma is quite sweet upfront, oak, some alcohol, vanilla and chocolate. The flavour is very sweet, oaky and woody, light alcohol, lots of chocolate, quite sugary. Very sweet mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, sweet and warm. This packed a punch. Strong aroma and flavor of roasted malt, molasses and tequila. Pitch black and viscous with a small head. Very smooth and thick with a heavy palate. Great but not an improvement on the original.
