COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

Bottle to IPA glass Another breakthrough at work, another beer. This could be good...or bad. Grapefruit, orange, light caramel, tropical fruits in the background. If you give it some time, a light pepperiness comes through. Clear amber with a huge 3cm frothy, off white head which had decent retention due to the very active carbonation. Taste is grapefruit and apple with an interesting late funkiness kind of like tropical fruit, but mixed with that overwhelming bitterness.

Plenty of hops, but maybe with more depth than most and a more profound bitterness than most dipa’s. Fairly complex, really...

Draught at Mikkeller Tokyo. Rich grapefruit character, citrus peel, bit of marmalade, juicy mouthfeel, boozy and spicy notes, long bitter finish. Would sware there is grapefruit juice in it, tasty stuff but a bit too heavy and boozy.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours cloudy golden with a large white head. Aroma is citrus, melon with a slight grape hint. Taste is unripened mango, citrus and theres a weird winey sourness involved that I can’t really work out before a bitter finish. Bit of a weird one but at the same time I quite like it.

First Mikkeller in over a year. Obviously I’m a moron because this is exactly why I used to buy so many. IIPA? I guess so - it’s a total disaster. This thing is everywhere and nowhere all at the same time and it’s awesome. Aroma for what I can actually find.. melon, squishy peach candy, amazing flowers and something I’ve never smelled before. The taste is very very cool and a complete mess. In la bouche: pineapple, flowers, foreign spice, super fucking bitter, chewy and oily, grass, nearly sourness, melon, huge citrus. Those all sound good but I have no clue on the order of anything. Wonderful flavours placed in totally random order. After taste is an adventure in tolerance. Went from loving this to questioning this to wanting more of this to wondering how much more I can take. Perfect yet kinda wrong - creativity and uniqueness isn’t always a winner.

Cloudy orange beer with white head. Aroma: tropical fruits, some dusty grass, some currant leaves, white grape, spicy herbs. Taste: moderate bitterness, light to moderate bitterness. Rich flavour: tropical fruits, grape, herbs, white wine, sour light fruits, light malt sweetenes. Moderate bitter aftertaste. Very good with rich hop profiles.

Pours clear orange, good sticky head. Aroma is almost Belgian-style, fruity, mildly candy, hoppy pine. Flavor is big citrus, tropical fruits, and hops. Love it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

330ml brown bottle. Best before date on cap - 29/04/17. Orange gold colour, cloudy. Small beige cap with great lacework left in the glass. Aroma - big grapefruit, flowers, caramel/toffee, orange peels, peach and pineapple, alcohol. Taste - caramel malt sweetness, lightly fruity with orange peel and late grapefruit. Lingering grapefruit and orange peel aftertaste, medium bitterness, some finishing alcohol. Body is medium. Pretty solid DIPA, nice aromatics and pretty good looking in the glass. Better than expected.
