COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

Bottle from Ølbutikken (Copenhagen, Denmark)
Average off-white head. Sticks around. Aroma is grassy and very citrus, though little of that is evident in the taste. It’s very bitter, but goes down easily. I think it’s better than it’s given credit for, although with Mikkeller I expect something that stands out a bit more. It’s a very typical IIPA.

Draft. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is as hop soup of peach, pine, grapes, fresh oil, pineapple, citrus, grass and caramel. Taste is moderate+ sweet and bitter. Body is medium+, texture is oily, carbonation is average. Finishes herbal.

On tap. Hazy golden with thick white head. Somewhat floral and grassy on the nose but also some vague hints of something a bit off which I just can’t put my finger on. Grassy hoppiness in taste. Medium bitter for a DIPA with a medium body, soft carbonation and an ok lingering bitter finish.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms Folkungagatan, Stockholm. Cloudy pale amber, coarse head. Huge perfumy aroma with white currant, lychee and summer flowers. Absolutely lovely nose! Mid dry with medium body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Rich perfumy hops dominate. Marked bitter finish. Certainly not complex, nor really well drinkable - despite hiding the abv well without being cloyingly sweet. In other words: not my type of beer at all - still it grabs me by the horns and drags me away. Pretty much a beer summing up todays modern beer scene.

Bottle. Hazy deep golden/light amber liquid with medium off-white head. Good foam stability. Aroma of mango, grapefruit, pine, pineapple, tangerine, citrus, light sweet caramel malt and fresh hops. Very fruity hops, nice. No dill from the Sorachi either. Taste is dry and medium to high bitter with notes of mango, light biscuit and citrus. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Great stuff even if the taste is a tiny bit one-dimensional (mostly bitter and nothing else).

Papsoe (25054) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - DEC 25, 2012
Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy opaque amber with a creamy off-white head. Fairly intense cat pee aroma - Nelson Sauvin really dominates here. Quite full-bodied , a sweet and fruity base and then this fairly complex hop bill that also leaves a distinct bitterness. A different DIPA. 121212
