My Bottom Line:
Raisins, figs, green apples and bready yeast swirl in this Belgian-style Strong Ale’s mouthfeel, as light licorice, alcohol and vanilla spiciness manage to create complexity in the prevalent dryness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A firm foam cap covers the cloudy mahogany-hued brown.
-This is creative and authentic. Good job.
-Alcohol is present in the flavor profile, but not overly so, which I appreciate in a 12% brew.
-Orangey spiciness can also be found.
-The finish of leafy hop bitternessis quiet for the style and strength of this brew.
-Mouthfeel is pillowy, a very able vehicle for the elegant flavor profile.

An elegant fluffy light beige foam stays over the dull veiled brown pour. Intensely yeasty, this is a pretty heady offering that deploys fusels and phenols aplenty in the aroma. The malts are not left on the side though, spreading their strong brown sugar notions complemented by softer touches of brazil nuts, very ripe grapes, figs and berries in a rooty, toasty and almost vinous ensemble. It does get vinous indeed in mouth, but is just more cerealic and thick than your usual fruit and alcohol forward vinous ale. With so much fermentation by-products and so much cereals thrown in there, the result can certainly be called complex. Overall though, I do find it a bit too strong in alcohol and unclean to be very enjoyable. I appreciate how its relatively large-bubbled carbonation manages to cut through the strong sweetness though and how its subtle bittering hops also work well in that regards without hampering its other aromatic strengths. Very powerful ale.

Semi-clear dark crimson red pour with a small beige head.

Aroma: I get shiitake mushrooms, soy, caramel, licorice, flour, sirup, apricot, plum, brazil nuts, over-ripe strawberries and yeast.

Taste is sweet and boozy. Muscovado sugar, caramel, coriander seeds, flour, licorice, soy, fermented fruits and hops for balance.

Palate is boozy with a dry ending. Sweet and spicy. I really liked the packaging even though it´s very girly and doesn´t really give a correct indication of the content. Overall I enjoyed it.

(Rating #3334)

Big beige coarseish head. Hazy deep dark red body. Roasty caramelly peanut butter aroma with smoke notes. Dry-sweet peanut butter and smoke taste with alcohol and ash notes. Sharpish, faintly hot, mouthfeel. Fullish body. Dry malty peanuts and roasty alcohol aftertaste. As I keep sipping I also find nuts, vanilla, nougat, and raspberry. Complex, wildly unusual, and really nice. (0.375l bottle, Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)

Bottle, courtesy of Beeranarchist. Dark brown pour, opaque. Small, slightly tan head. Aroma has a lot of spices and yeasty sweetness, flowers, vinegar, alcohol and bread. Burnt sugar and berries as well. Taste is very sweet and floral with some yeast and alcohol, bread and a little earth, only some bitterness. Low-medium carbonation, medium body, medium duration.

Bottle from Ølbutikken. Dark reddish brown with a tan head. Wonderful fruity aroma with notes of nuts, marcipan and chocolate. Nutty, fruity flavours, chocolate and marcipan lurking by as well as potent alcohol. A treat for the senses, especially for a sweet tooth.
