Mikkeller & Friends. Bottle share with Fonefan, Rlgk and ChrisO. Opaque black brown beer, big pale tan head. Palate is airy and minerally crisp. Smooth dry dark malts, touch of licorice and coffee. Mild spice and vague dark fruits. Not getting a big maple vibe, more is the pity, this could do with.sweetening up. Light dry finish.

Bottle at "Darkness comes to town", 131116. Pitch black beer with a nice beige head. Malty caramel aroma, roasted, fruity, chocolate, some hay. Vinous fruity flavor, caramel, hay, raisins. Slightly thin bodied. Not the way I want my porter.

375mL bottle, pours black with a large foamy beige / tan head. Nose brings out toasted nuts, maple syrup, wood and some coffee. Flavour brings out very complex notes of coffee, subtle maple syrup, dry burnt wood, and roasted malt. Everything is in beautiful balance here, including the maple syrup barrels which I don’t normally like. Very dry, roasted and subtle sweet beer here. Excellent stuff.
