375mL bottle, pours black with a large foamy beige / tan head. Nose brings out toasted nuts, maple syrup, wood and some coffee. Flavour brings out very complex notes of coffee, subtle maple syrup, dry burnt wood, and roasted malt. Everything is in beautiful balance here, including the maple syrup barrels which I don’t normally like. Very dry, roasted and subtle sweet beer here. Excellent stuff. slowrunner77 (13368) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 4, 2014
"Better than golden sap, but more due to the fact that Mikkeller makes kick ass porters. And the coffee is great. Barrel influence still light, though it’s a little more noticeable in the flavor, and is noticeable in the aroma (while light, you couldn’t smell a hint of maple in the golden at all). Smooth for 10%, tasty. Lil steep still..."

Bottle @ Mikkeller & Friends. Thanks Yespr for sharing! Pours near black with a lasting big creamy light brown head. Aroma is coffee, licorice, wood, toasted malt, roasted malt, chocolate, mild wood and delicate maple syrup. Taste is moderate sweet, bitter and light acidic. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft+. Finishes roasted with licorice and a hint of bread. I expected this to be over the top with maple-syrup but it is nicely integrated in the flavour. Furthermore it´s an absolute beauty in a glass. thewolf (12989) - Kolding, DENMARK - SEP 21, 2013
Bottle, bought @ Mikkeller and Friends, Cph. Pours deep black with a large, creamy beige head. Kinda big-bubbled. Aroma has plenty coffee, chocolate, vinious, tar. Medium carbonation, very creamy and nice dry mouthfeel. Flavour has coffee, lots of maple syrup, roasted, vinious, nutty. Quite elegant dry and bitter finish. Nice. 375mL from La Bodega. $14. Clear deep brown pour, looking black in the glass. Larger carbonation, medium coffee foam with large formation. Tepid pour required. Wispy lacing. Nose is excellent coffee creme brulee, awesomely decadent and spot on dark dessert flavors. Souffle, truffle, cake. Taste is lighter than expected, not boozy or sticky, and not ashy or soy saucy like a lot of darker Mikkeller offerings. Carbonation is higher on the palate providing buoyancy with some richer dark chocolate. Maple blends in well, not really a main flavor. Overall approachable and easy to enjoy. 10% abv is completely absent. Feels like 6.5%. thornecb (6188) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 18, 2013
Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention recedes leaving thick sheets to mound surface. Sweet chocolate, soy and earthy coffee aromas. Medium bodied with smoky chocolate upfront turning to maple in the middle before a lasting hot mocha finish. marcus (10953) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 27, 2013
Bottle from Star Grocery, Berkeley. Pours near black with a huge tan head and a treacle and syrup aroma. There is an intense dark molasses flavor with lots of black coffee and a hint of maple. Very tasty.
