gyllenbock (9977) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2013
Bottle at Mikkeller & Friends, October 2013.

Black with a medium, creamy tan head. Aroma and taste of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, nuts and something sweet (Maple Syrup?). I liked the creamy mouthfeel in this beer. Smooth and relaxed.

Bottle. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol, maple syrup and barrel. Taste adds some coffee grounds and amplifies the maple. Palate is thick and syrupy. Big and tasty.

Bottle. 12/17/13. Pours black with a dense, thick, fluffy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, some dark berries, sweet syrup, bread. Reminds me of cocoa pebbles. Taste is similar; unsweet dark chocolate, maple syrup, bread, some leather, some coffee though not so much as the aroma. Finish is long and bitter; chocolate, coffee. Dense lacing throughout. Low carbonation. Oily mouth feel. Certainly excellent, though not so much maple syrup as I might have liked. Otherwise, really fantastic.

Pours black with a brown head and aroma of coffee and alcohol. Taste is strong, of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, maple syrup, and fruits with a warming finish. Delicious and strong porter

Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - FEB 1, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate chocolate, molasses, fruit, coffee, and light maple syrup. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a two finger tan head with decent retention. There’s a good amount of soapy lacing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with chocolate and molasses. There is some light fruit in the middle. The finish has equal parts maple syrup and coffee. The maple syrup really lingers on the tongue. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation. Overall, I imagine I’d like this more than most as I’m a big fan of maple syrup flavors in Imperial Stouts.

Bottle 375ml.

Clear dark brown color with a large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, wood, alcohol, light burnt. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, wood, molasses, sweet sugary coffee. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic.
