3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Ah the benefits of slow moving stock. Heavy, boozy (10% ABV notwithstanding) with fruit cake and spice. Well put together despite the ’massiveness’.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Large coarse foam that lasts a long time. Smells although of pine needles and slightly acidic aroma of yeast. The taste varies over easy fruit and pine needles, but taken over quickly by a significant hop bitterness which clearly reflects the IPA content. It is a gem, though perhaps should have been launched as an Imperial IPA instead, for it is its IPA character that shines through most.

Bottle shared at Drinkwater’s Last Stand, Brewdog Shepherds Bush, 18th Oct 2014. Chestnut brown in the glass, fine carbonation, small head. Slight dull hop aroma, some gingerbread, caramel - not as oxidised as feared. Rich raisin, dark fruit, caramel, some marmalade, booze. Glad I got to try it, even if it was perhaps past its best.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
150 cl bottle @ home (bottle #82) - shared with a few people to celebrate my birthday (the Stella beers seem fairly appropriate to use for birthday celebrations). Pours dark brown with a huge off-white head that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma and flavour are pine, citrus, caramel, and toffee - with a slightly bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Magnum from the webshop, #169. Dark and dirty mahogany with a dark beige head. Fairly sweet and slightly aged hop strong ale, fig, caramel, prune, malty, boozy, slight resin bite, moderate+ carbonation and body, somewhat dry, nice balance on the palate although a little too sweet on the nose. Very good.
