Bottle at RBESG 09 Sheffield. Chestnut colour, lasting beige head. Stick your nose in a bag of Cetennials. Intense strong and slightly syrupy. God, that is just so hoppy. Pure hop sensation, not outlandish, not unbalanced. Not boozy. Joint best beer of the day. grapengrain (124) - Havelock North, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 29, 2010
Amazingly fresh and crisp texture juxtaposed with big-ass malt body. Fresh hops to balance... long, long, long finish. Stunning!!! DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 1, 2009
Bottle at the RBESG09, Grand tasting, sheffield. Alround rating: Massive hop win, good amount of sweet honey and caramalt coming through but its all about the citrus and lightly blackcurrent hops. Beer of the trip for me! fiulijn (21506) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 4, 2009
2009-05-26, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 9-4-9-5-18=45tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - JUN 27, 2010
Dark mahogany color, hazy, with amber reflex, and very small head. It has a massive aroma, sweet caramel and aromatic hops, both fruity and resiny. Very strong body, luckily with low carbonation, with a huge caramel flavor, nice sweetness, and powerful hopping; the hops bring bitter oranges and resins. Long and strong final. Nothing refined here, just the usual bomb, a beer for real men ;-)
2009-05-15, draught at Københavnske Øldage 2009, 9-5-8-5-17=44
Beautiful amber color. Deep aroma, extremely hoppy, with mostly resins, and some fruitness; later, a nice earthy touch. Very strong caramel flavor, sweet, with nice hop resins and bitter oranges, lightly astringent in the end. Strong bitterness, maybe a bit aggressive. Powerful and very enjoyable.
Fantastic oat pressence. Reminiscent of the Three Floyds-Mikkeller combo wonder. Pine; citrus hops, cereal and butterscotch on the palate. Love this stuff. Very pleased it smoothed over after aging and wasn’t ruined. The hops had gone a little but not too much. I was impressed with the smooth balance and the oat character. This beer is a stunner. So pleased to have kept it for a special tasting and to thank The Cad for all these Brew Dog nights. Enjoyed with The Cad; Nate, Angelo, Mario and the new girl at the Rake whom I don’t know yet. £20 bargain from Beermerchants. Thanks so much Phil for not charging this for what I am reading on the other rates! Cheers. A rarity. Stonking. A beer to celebrate with friends.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2009.
Clear orange coloured with a small off white head.
Fruity aroma of caramel and rye bread with notes of hops and pine needles.
Sweet, fruity and hoppy flavour of pine needles, grape fruits and grass.
Dry hoppy finish. Rune (13720) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 3, 2009
During six days in Copenhagen I enjoyed this delicious brew on tap at CBF 09, Lord Nelson and Plan B. Attractive deep, russet coloured body. Minimal head. Smell of grapes and citrus peels. Dry hopped taste profile with pine needles, dark fruits and caramel sweetness. Long lasting bittersweet aftertaste. Massive and heavy and a joy to the senses (mid-May 09). tseo (155) - Athens, GREECE - JUN 3, 2012
Smell: very complex, both appealing and slightly disturbing. Old wood, dry fruit, musty yeast, alcohol, spicy hops, citrus fruit, brown sugar.
Mouthfeel: creamy, full, no noticeable carbonation.
Taste: Ridiculously unique, starts flat, then sweetish caramel, with a hop background, then intensely bitter and musty. Orange peel, burnt caramel, herbs.
Finish: Very very long, bitter like a pain killer pill, and extra dry.
Overall: Love it! Extremely complex. It’s like a double IPA combined with a belgian strong ale. llkc (2827) - århus, DENMARK - OCT 26, 2014
duft: lime. karamel. citrus. sødme
smag: meget smag af sukker karamel. humle. lidt rugbrød. malt sødme. god fylde Grovlam (4257) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAY 21, 2009
Draught. [Beer festival 2009] This was one of many highlights for this year’s festival. Large beige creamy head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Cloudy reddish almost mahogany colored. Aroma was quite sophisticated with notes of heavy hoppy citrus, grape and piney like notes. Mix of fruit, dried fruit and also nutty, light toasted malty, caramel notes with some berries in there as well. Full bodied with an average carbonation and light dry thick and mild alcoholic texture. Heavy bitter and sweet flavor in a lovely balanced way. Lingering dry fruity and very hoppy floral finish. Excellent and one that I will return to again!
