Bottle 1017/1170 thx to [email protected]
Dark brown colour with a nice brown head. Smells hoppy, dark chocolate, roasty, alcohol. Tastes coffee, roasty malts, hops, dark chocolate, vanille. Full body, thick. Nice beer!
In short: A very hoppy/bitter toasted dark ale. Very goodrederic (3337) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 10, 2012
How: 1.5L Magnum. Consumed when approximately 16 months of age. Tasting session with Montreal gang
The look: Dark brown body topped by a medium tan head with medium retention
In long: Nose is moderately roasted, something that resemble toasted wood and wooden hops. Taste starts with crunchy toasted caramelized malts before it is taken over by the a hefty dosage of resinous wooden hops. Light notes of chocolate, dark fruits and brownies here and there. Bitterness level is in the medium-high range and the finish is relatively toasted-dry. To me this came-through more like a hoppy no-style American Strong Ale than an Imperial Porter as presently listed. Whatever it was I really liked it, a tasty beer an I could have drank the whole magnum by myself. Another winner by Mikkeller. A nice big magnum that we shared in MartinT’s living room while his young daughter who is too young to speak was staring at me and just laughed and laughed. No doubt she sees me clearly.

Black color; creamy head. Mild aroma of roasted malt, dusty, with light chocolate. Chocolate flavor, some roasted malt, quite dry. Strong bitterness, with light liquorice. Good, but without surprise.

Rating #100 of a Mikkeller brew.
Huge brown head on dark dark brown body.
Nose is roasted, burnt, coffee, cocoa, and a hint of smoke.
Taste is the same. Really complex.
Really smooth, full, and creamy.
Lovely porter. Really typical Mikkeller quality - fitting #100 brew. Keep on brewing the good stuff. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Pours a brown almost black color with a small tan head. Aromas heavy on chocolate/coffee with some smoke. Nice bitterness mixed with the coffee/chocolate flavors. Excellent porter.

My Bottom Line :
Caramelized and roasted malts are licked by alcohol and coniferous hops in this balanced and healthy Imperial Porter.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the brown-hued darkness.
-The hop flavors make this feel like a Black IPA at times.
-Blackberry angles add complexity.
-The mouthfeel is not too heavy, but it is definitely rich.
-Molasses allusions are created by the union of caramelized and roasted malts.
-This is not much of a surprise. Mikkeller making yet another very nice strong dark brew?
