Poured bottle 187/1170 into my Mikkeller Festival tulip. More of a imperial porter tending to imperial stout. Pours a black with a huge tan/chocolate head that leaves plenty of lacing after it finally dies down. As I poured it into my glass the stream had a very dark ruby red tinge to it.
Hoppy with a bit of chocolate, roasted malts. The hops are very forward (nice to meet you!) and almost overpowers everything else. Nice hop presence though.
Chocolate, hops, and sweet mixed with a nice hop bitterness. Pleasantly balanced.
Very carbonated thinning out what could be a very thick beer. Nice balance. A slight chocolate sweetness is left behind each swallow mixed with a bitterness from the hops.
Very drinkable. I wish this was a regular beer in the lineup, but would not give up the beer geek line to make way for this one.

It’s pitch-black with a huge, brown and creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee, dark chocolate and hops. The flavour has a moderate sweetness and notes of hard-roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and the finish is hoppy, and perhaps a little too bitter. sunevdj (4123) - Copenhagen OE, DENMARK - NOV 19, 2010
Pours an opaque black with a tanned head. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Aromas of chocolate and hints of toasted malts. Medium to full bodied with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Long dry finish. Beer5000 (6678) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 8, 2010
Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Black body with a big, creamy brown head. Strong aroma of sweet malt, roasted coffee and hops. Flavor is sweet malt, roasted coffee, chocolate, fruity hops, mocha and bitter. A symphony of great flavors. tdtm82 (1701) - Essex, ENGLAND - NOV 5, 2010
All round ratings; shared by myself with the London crew at Euston Tap opening night.
The nose is coffee; cream, and vanilla. The appearance is opaque black and great creamy lacing.
Roasted malts; coffee, cream, vanilla, good bitterness, excellent drinkability, just a good honest and well-made stout. Have had better from Mikkeller and am so glad that the Dark Hole Red Wine edition is not this rare. Otherwise I’d have a loan. gunnfryd (15180) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - SEP 12, 2010
