This Bock from Mikkeller is called Frelser. Means Savior in Danish. The name is a subtle reference to all Bocks Mother: Salvator. Originally the monks brewed Salvator because they needed a very strong and rich beer during Lent. Do not drink this beer instead of a meal, it contains 11% alcohol.

Sampled @ Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010. Clear, reddish brown body with a medium size brown head. Aroma of sweet malt, dry fruit and coffee. Flavor is sweet malt,chokolate, dry fruit, nuts and hops. Fine balanced body, bitter finish and well-hidden alcohol. A solid brew.

750mL bottle. Poured deep brown with a tall, creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up warm darker fruits, molasses, and some coffee, with a sweet overall impression.. some hints of warmth around, but the sugars led.. well-balanced. The flavor found more of the molasses and sticky caramel at the core.. prickly, peppery alcohol and malty sourness (molasses and some coffee) emanated outward.. a little too sour and sharp.. warmed up the belly and left a molasses impression on the finish. Heavier-bodied and sweet on the palate.. nice creamy feel on the front, but the sourness after that didnt work so well.. chewy. This was a solid brew that may benefit from age.

Bottle from Healthy Spirits. Pours black with a thick tan head and a strong treacle and coffee aroma. There is a thick sweet dark malt flavor with a very dry bitter finish. A marvelous brew.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malt, toasting, light burnt caramel, nuts, slight dried fruit, and slight raisin. Poured very seep amber/brown in color with a medium-sized, creamy, dense, tan/beige head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear but lightly cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Excellent lacing. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malt, tar, wood, roasting, slight caramel, and slight tobacco. Medium to full body. Viscous, smooth, creamy texture is a little dry. Soft to average carbonation. Malt, tar, wood, slight caramel, and slight tobacco finish is dry. 11%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

Shared at Cafe Viking, Nrrebro, Copenhagen. Close to an ultimate imperial bock, heavy, but disguised alcohol. Nice head, medium carbonation. Hazelnuts, caramel and smooth hoppyness, balances well with the malts. Two sips and i was hooked.

750 c&c. Pours very dark ruby with a 3 finger foamy tan head. Aroma is like cola and medium dark reddish fruit. Full bodied with near creamy carbonation. Its very fruity - like dark cherry? Its very malty. And I think Im getting chocolate and coffee. Heat? Gotta search for it. Extremely tasty.

750 ml bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Pours a cloudy reddish-brown color with a beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, toast, cola, nuts, brown sugar, graham cracker, and nuts. Flavor of chocolate and caramel malts, nuts, brown sugar, toast, cola, leaves, dried fruits, and grass. I have scribbled down that there was something vaguely "Euro" in this beer but not sure if I was referring to the malts or hops. Medium-bodied, with mild carbonation and a toasty, malty mouthfeel. One of the guys drinking this was calling it a "triple bock", as its an imperial doppelbock, more or less. The booze is hidden in the nose and flavor, though, and its a cool beer.

Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - OCT 18, 2010
750ml bottle. The pour yields a deep, inky, violet-burgundy body with a thin, bubbly head of dark khaki froth. A solid, unbroken sheet of lacing coats the glass almost entirely. The aroma is loaded with dark fruits, overflowing with stewed raisins and figs in the forefront, followed by some tempered cocoa roast, toasted tree nuts, and some boozy, sherry-like character. Earthen hops are present, but primarily serve a backup role to the mostly sweet fruitiness. Flavors comes through with monstrously sweet caramel malt, again with dark, stewed, concentrated raisins, figs, and dates. Toasted nuts, mild hops, and some earthy, dry, yeasty bread are all that keep this from being over-the-top sugary. The palate sports a big body that is thinned only by the excessive alcohol, which brings a warm to hot, boozy finish. Carbonation is moderate an unobtrusive. Overall, there is good fruit depth and some supportive roast character, but the sweetness and booziness ultimately serve as detractors. Decent, but far from great.

Nose of sweet hazel, mild hops, feel is elegant, balance of carb and winefeel, taste is weak alcohol, plum, late sweet licorice.
