Pretty decent, not quite in the German (preferred) style. Small goblet at Old Toad from draft. Appearance is quite stunning. Very dark, slight reddish hue, beautiful dark head, thick lacing. Sweet dark fruit in the nose, a bit of booze and a medicine note. Palate is oily with raisins, plums, a bit of alcohol, very sticky, sweet, great mouthfeel. Not too sweet (a bit of hops at end). 11%.... 750ml ..... :) watching the Canada v US World Junior q.finals. 1-0 CAN early. Pours out a dark be2-0er with a big ass mound of foamy medium brown fuzz and plenty ’o lacing. This is going to be a mess.... Only 1/5th in and buzzed. How poorly will the iPhone spell check treat me in 45mins? AAAAAAAHHH my dislike of bocks won’t come into play here as the first whiff is pampered with plenty of sweet citrus hops. 3-0. Man, this is a slow review! Fragrant and a bit pungent, papaya or something tropical, oranges, grapes, very faint herbal, plums, light spice, mellow molasses, bit of roast, chocolate - that’s pretty much everything ever. Tasty stuff - maybe this isn’t that far off from a mellow barley wine now that it’s warmed. Citrus/ roast / pine overall taste. Very balanced with new and different flavors on every sip. Citrus, pine, roast, just enough sweetness, faint alcohol, fucking 4-0’!!! Soft molasses, bitter chocolate, 4-1- oooooooooo. More chocolate noticed but it is in no way a ’big’ flavor. Caramel, licorice, more molasses, excellent. Good carbonation, creamy at the same time, barely a hint of the 11% lurking in the dark. Fruity and dark, this is a great beer - a beer that I was putting off drinking. Excellent and highly drinkable. Ratman197 (15632) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - JAN 3, 2011
750 ml corked and caged bottle poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of molasses, carmel, toasted malt and earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of molasses, toffee, carmel, earthiness and toasted malt with a smooth dry lingering molasses finish. vtafro (7451) - Wayne, New Jersey, USA - DEC 30, 2010
Draft @ RnH Mikkeller event. Dark pour with almost no head. Dark malts, some fruits, with a dry finish. A little boozy in the nose that doesn’t turn over into flavor. Cirrhosis (1283) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 22, 2010

Deep, dark mahogany, bubbly brown head, early lace. Aroma of booze and burnt sugars. Flavours of molasses, brown sugar, hints of raisins and wood. Sweet, but with a surprisingly bitter end. Delicious. beernbourbon (1604) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - DEC 9, 2010
Bottle. Pour is deep rich brown with a medium light brown head. Very powerful look to this beer. Aroma is loaded with roasted caramel malt. Tons of it. Also light fruity notes, faint coffee, light smoke, and faint licorice. Flavor is lots of roasted malt, but not as much as expected. Also a light dryness with notes of brown sugar and coffee in the finish. Less sweet and more well rounded than expected. Also a faint hop note. Really hides 11% well. Only a faint alcohol note. Pours a dark thick gem, with white head that leads to alce. From private buying club. Big bold roasty aromas. Bold taste of roast, coffee and chocolate. Not too thick, still quite drinkable. Alcohol well hidden but it warms the body and then fogs the brain. Amazing meal in itself. Rciesla (5607) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - NOV 22, 2010
Bottle. Pours a brune body with an off white head and poor head retention. Etoh creeps out first with a dark fruit tone, caramel, fig, sherry notes. Licorice and rye with a mild caramel tone. Soy and malt sweetness. Pretty boozy finish. Eh. Rune (13770) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 16, 2010
200ml from tap at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen. Deep and shiny mahogany coloured body. Bare naked surface. Spiced aroma with malts and a touch of almond. Dusty hops and spiced chocolate malts in flavour. Dry and lingering in the throat. A varied and flavoursome brew, 05.11.2010.
