3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a deep golden copper color with a two finger sticky eggshell foam... Aromas are funky barnyard brett, touch phenolic and some vinous fruit notes as well. On the palate its rustic barnyard notes with a touch of acidity and a smooth full background of honey malts and touches of bitterness. Im still getting traces of subtle phenols thats keeping me from loving this but its still enjoyable.
Comparing to the baseline version there is quite strong stone fruit character with some light woody accents. As in the regular version the tartness, funkiness and acidity is rather in the background. Still strong maltiness. Guruhso (763) - Grindsted, DENMARK - SEP 24, 2016
Bottle. Malty. Aroma of dried fruit and funk with barnyard notes. Brett. Lot of wood. The flavour is sweet, light sour with a light alcoholic burn. The body is medium and the texture is oily. Plovmand (8483) - Helsinge, DENMARK - SEP 24, 2016
Bottle. It pours hazy amber with a medium off white head. Quite malty and funky aroma. Lots of barrel notes. Spices. Deep malty and ripe fruity with some funk. Woody and oaky. Ktwse (5043) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 31, 2016
Pours hazy brownish copper with low off-white head. Aroma of red currant, liquored cherry, bretta, oak barrels, red berries. Taste is initial light tart that quickly turns into a fairly rich oaky sweet. Refreshing, yet somewhat funky finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation. beer-yum (1782) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 30, 2015
Restrained farmhouse/funky aroma in a slightly cloudy Amber pour. Wonderfully complex taste of tart, sweet, wood, and wine is brilliantly interesting. What a sour should aspire to.

375cl bottle served in a snifter. Initially pours a lovely, autumnal orangey red colour but once the sediment is added it looks pretty unpleasant. Good head initially. Aroma is woody, earthy and funky yeasts. Taste is sweet and earthy which goes very well but was a little disappointed by the lack of sour (especially given Mikkeller’s track record on sour beers being rather extreme). Gooseberries, over ripe apples, oak, basement funk. Generally very good but missing that extra something I have begun to expect from Mikkeller. __Rb81 (789) - NETHERLANDS - APR 18, 2015
Bottle at home (best before 16/10/14). Pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity vinous, wood, barnyard, Brett. Taste is sweet fruity vinous, Brett, malts, wood, hint of tartness. Dry, slightly bitter finish. Nice. tricksta_p (4763) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - JAN 1, 2015
Aroma of tart fruit, sour apple, funky yeast, Sauternes notes, oak, earthy notes, soft vanilla. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate tart with a light bitter finish. Very nice, just like the other BA version of ★. bluejacket74 (1993) - Reynoldsburg, Ohio, USA - DEC 25, 2014
375 ml bottle, it’s been in the back of my fridge for probably a year and a half at least, so I have no idea how old this bottle really is. Served in a Prairie Teku, the beer pours a mostly clear reddish/copper color with a half inch off-white head. Head retention is decent, and there isn’t much lacing. Aroma is sweet and fruity, it smells like vanilla, oak, caramel, grapes, and some honey. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also some stone fruit, earthiness and grainy malt noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s a bit coating with low/moderate carbonation. I’m sure this brew has changed a lot from compared to when it was fresh, but at this point it’s still good. Not really funky, to me it’s more sweet tasting. If Mikkeller ever decides to make another batch of this, I’ll make a point to try it fresher. slowrunner77 (12159) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 30, 2014
more hops come through with the funk of this one, and i liked it the best, probably. great interplay between barrel and beer.
