Pours like motor oil having lost its viscosity after overheating, and difficultly building up a dark brown head, at least for some secs. Cognac is there, unmistakably, wlanuts and walnutpeel, ink, Christmas cake. Faintly fruity and alcoholic-sweet backdrop. Bitterish (roasted) - sourish (CO², but also burnt grains) - sweet (mainly alcohol, some fruitiness) and perfect integration. Again clearly brandy and some walnutpeel; dried orangepeel retronasal. Very roasted, burnt chocolate. Viscous, oily, warming, full bodied and dangerous. Great beer; the cognac is definitely an extra value. JakobBKK (12) - Bangkok, THAILAND - DEC 23, 2012
Pours pitch black. The dark creamy head rises a few seconds after the beer is poured. The aroma is: caramel, roasted, chocolate and of course cognac... lots of cognac! The taste is: dark malt, sweet, soy sauce and again lots of cognac. All-in-all a great bold beer with a full body and plenty of complex notes. Thoor84 (67) - ICELAND - DEC 22, 2012
black with dark brown small head. Oak, some roastie notes, alcohol in aroma. Taste is just perfect, really complex - oak, dark dark chocolate, some coffee - sweet vanilla and a lot more I cant really describe. Dont feel any one of those flavors to dominate, all just works well together in a perfect harmony. At the moment I think this might be maybe the best impy stout i’ve ever had. Pours jet black. Aroma is of raisins, alcohol, cognac, oak. Little head which disapears very quickly. Very smooth, woody and alcoholic. Bitterness and alcohol burn kick in towards the end, but in between is a delight in roast malt, caramel, butterscotch and of course cognac.
Very complex, but highly drinkable imperial stout. SirLimpsalot (4698) - SWEDEN - DEC 5, 2012
@ Mikkeller Bar: En fantastisk svart vätska med tydligt rostate toner, mycket lakrits, fat, kaffe och torv. Fin lång eftersmak. Mycket gott Abio (1868) - BERMUDA - NOV 25, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 2, 2014 1275th rating, wanted a bit of a special one, got a bigger surprise as hoped for. Pitch black in the glass, with a small dark brown head. Roasted malts, cofee, chocolate and a hint of the cognac. This beer is well combined at both taste as smell, and the mouthfeel is so nice thick siropy. Maybe best of all is the aftertaste that is holding for so long, and really is a great combination of chocolate, coffee and slightly soms booze. A surprise, and very glad I got more of this one, and can let one age a bit more. One of the best I have tasted till now. anders37 (27588) - Malmö, SWEDEN - NOV 21, 2012

25cl, new exclusive Danish brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, very complex Stout, roasted/sweet and slightly woody/fruity, not too heavy, very balanced, hazy, small head, top class!, yet very expensive!
