Bottle split at Jack The Sipper leaves for the FBI again tasting, big thanks to Kennybobs for more high boost filth, 14/07/15. Black topped with a dirty tan covering. Nose is rich roast, spice trace, chocolate, raisens, molasses, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises rich dark fruits, subtle enough Calvados barrel, light spice, dark chocolate, xoy Xauce. Full bodied, fine carbonation semi drying close. Respectable enough impy but a touch boozeye, definately not juan of those where you feel the ABV is well masked!

Bottle shared at craft beer co JackL leaving drinks. Huge thanks to Kenny for this one. Aroma is sweet cakey, toffee, salty, raspberry, liquorice. Dark caramel brown, viscous coloured pour with a fading tan head. Palate is sticky caramel, salty, lowish carbonation. Flavour is composed of big and bold black malts, cakey, salted caramel, liquorice, raspberry and dried apple. Little woody tanin. Pretty good. Big and bold but I like it.

Farewell Jack bottleshare at Craft Clerkenwell. Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is a little viscous with low carbonation. Smooth but very rich dark malts. Spice. The calvados is obvious but doesn’t dominate at all. Spicy dry finish. Rich!

Bottle big thanks to the mad man Mr Mitch. It pours jet black with a tiny tan head. The nose is soft, juicy, hard roasted malts, jammy fruits, rocky road, brown sugar, candied apple and wood. The taste is rich, oily, bitter-sweet vibe to it, rocky road, fruit pie, liquorice, earthy roast, charred wood, vanilla, umami and some acidity with a warming finish. Full body, fine carbonation and thick mouth-feel. Big and bold. A good sipping beer.

Bottle share at CBC Clerkenwell, many thanks to Ken. 14%. Black, small foamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate, sherry, vanilla. Body is medium, smooth, no carbonation. Taste is very similar to the smell with liquer chocolates, fruity sherry with a smooth, sweet vanilla finish. Very nice indeed.

Bottle @ The Clerkenwell Share. Thanks to Kenny! Deep brown pour with a small head. Plenty of boozy, woody barrel character on the nose. Toasted grain and baked apple dessert. Chocolate and coffee. Taste is oily and rich, thick. Some umami, ink cartridge. Peppered apples. Caramel and rich toasty grain. Thick and fat, but fairly easy to drink.

Bottle shared during Jack’s most recent leaving drinks. Many thanks to Kenny for this rarity. The beer pours oily black with a mellow, foamy tan head. The nose has a lot of roast, burnt wood, dark fruits, heavy dark chocolate. Medium to big sweet flavor with lots of oily alcohol, raisins, scorched wood, berries, cherry. Full bodied, dense and chewy, with fine carbonation. Hot finish with more torched wood, earthy bitterness, quite bitter baking cocoa, more raisin, leather, dried berries. Good stuff overall. Real punchy, though.

[4/27/15] Bottle at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen. Thick opaque black color. Great aroma of chocolate, vanilla, wood, liqueur, and a bit of booziness. Sweet flavor, kinda boozy, with mild woody acidity, chocolate, vanilla, soy sauce, dark fruits and some booziness. Full-bodied.
