Oh this is just my favorite beer. Very big and strong. Lots of roasted malt. Pours black. Almost no foam. Tasty. You can feel the abv but you think its less than it actually is and just notice when you are ordering the next one and see two bartenders. I dont know if it being a 250 cc bottle is a good or bad thing.

Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 12.01.18. Ebony. Brown head. Superb aroma of dark chocolate, vanilla, chocolate sauce, milk and coconut. Similar taste, well balanced with bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.

25 cl bottle. Not sure what year the bottle is. Pours pitch black in color with no discernible head to speak of and looking like used motor oil. The aroma shows notes of dark chocolate, dark fruits, roasted malts, a hint of smoke and oxidation. The alcohol is hidden very well too. The flavor follows suit with notes of dark chocolate, roast, dark fruits, and a hint of vanilla. Medium bodied and oily slick with no carbonation to speak that leads to a quick dark chocolate finish. Oxidative and past it’s prime. A shame because I could see where this would live up to the ratings.

33cl bottle at Honoloeloe Mechelen. Poured dark black, with an oily texture, tan head. Aroma of raosted malt, dark chocolate, some fruits, cocoa. Some wood, coffee, nuts in the taste, chocolat, slowly alcohol kicks in. Chocolat bitter finish.

Pours with the viscosity of used motor oil with no discernible head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and a hint of smoke. Taste is at once bitter chocolate with the consistency of pudding. Flavor opens up with a hint of tart cherry and finishes with coffee, perhaps even espresso. This is a very interesting take on a Russian imperial stout.

CanIHave4Beers (4241) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - OCT 17, 2017
Bottle in the old livin' room.
Pours very black with a big tan head & good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is big & sweet, chocolaty & a touch hoppy. Bold, a touch fruity with a touch of licorice.

Man the flavor is huge, roasty & sweet with lots of dark fruit & citrus hop flavor. Some Cavendish, dark chocolate, fig, & almost like a tannic woody character. Not overwhelmingly boozy for what it is, but it isn't without alcohol heat.

Thick on the palate with a long finish

Rich black color; Medium to heavy creamy body; Aroma of toasted/smoky malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, & some dark fruit; Flavor of smoky/burnt sweet malt, coffee/espresso, dark chocolate, some vanilla, dark fruit notes, and anise/licorice; Warm finish; Nicely balanced & complex; Really good!

4.3
Banksiz (154) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 17, 2017
Smoky-roasty nose, with raisin and orange-peel notes emerging as it breathes. A touch of cloves. Sweet, with a backbone of bitterness and some sour notes. Wonderful heavy oily body. Lingering finish fading to a subtle soreness. A wonderful imperial stout, perfectly melding the bitter, sweet, and sour flavors.
