Big, black, strong, and oily. This is a beautiful beer and there is no other way to say it. This is a whopper of a stout and there is not a bad thing I can say about it. davidm (2080) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - MAY 23, 2013
On tap at BeerDeLuxe. I love imperial stouts. This one has a deep chocolate flavour, molasses, and oysters. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. zebra (2169) - Illinois, USA - AUG 15, 2013
on tap @ 3floyds. better than the calvados and cognac versions. haven’t tried the bourbon. liked how the head was brown. imperial ash and cinders. couldn’t be better. Mogwai (227) - Askeby, DENMARK - SEP 26, 2010
Tap at Mikkeller and Beer Festival 2010.
Pours a deep deep black colour with brown head. Aroma is unbelievable, lots of coffee, roast, smoke, soy, vanilla, chocolate. Taste is even better, such a deep flavor, probably the best imperial stout I have ever had. Palme (4811) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 21, 2011
My #200 rating! 0.25l bottle. Pours a beautiful thick jet-black body with a small tanned bubbly head. Nose is absofruitly beautiful. Lots of wood, vanilla, roast, dark chocolate, salty licorice, cherries and strong espresso. Full-bodied and low carbonation. Tastes even better. Tingles down the throat in a deep, dark roasted sensation, thick as cream with flavors from heaven. Really longlasting bitter chocolate sticking to the tongue. My god this is good! Hint of raspberries, dried fruits, dark wood and cigar. Amazing, and for me this is almost overwhelmingly nice!

Oh this is just my favorite beer. Very big and strong. Lots of roasted malt. Pours black. Almost no foam. Tasty. You can feel the abv but you think its less than it actually is and just notice when you are ordering the next one and see two bartenders. I dont know if it being a 250 cc bottle is a good or bad thing. Inbreak (6212) - Loddefjord, NORWAY - JUN 13, 2013

Big brown creamy loooonglasting head. Aroma is rich and slightly sweet, dark malts, sweet licorice, roasted coffee, cocoa, caramel, grass, dark sugar, chili, dark fruits, hints of vanilla. Taste is very rich, dark roasted malts, raw licorice, slightly sour-ish coffee, cocoa, dark sugar, burnt caramel, oak, grass, hops, hints of chili. Longlasting bitterness, thick syrupu mouthfeel. Incredibly mild and balanced for the ABV. This is just pure pleasure, it can’t get much better than this unless it’s bourbon aged!
So Mikkeller, so good. This pours so thick and black out of the bottle with a slight and quick vanishing head. Smells like wine, port, oak. Almost feels a bit oily on the tongue. The first taste is of a intense chocolate then coffee roast, raisins. Smooth and tasty all the way down. Hardly any bitter taste. ZombiezMum (10) - Bangkok, THAILAND - DEC 18, 2015
On Tap at Hair of the Dog, during their Star Wars event so this was the Empire beer very fitting rep for the Imperials.
Pours black like tar with light and dark two toned head, taste of licorice and soy with some dark chocolate and vanilla, a master piece and will rule the galaxy. adasko (2233) - Poznan, POLAND - JAN 12, 2016
Pitch black beer, non-transparent with rather poor head which reduces itself almost immediately to just a ring. In aroma awesome rum notes, a lot of chocolate, a bit of coffee, roasted, toasted notes as well. Aroma is very deep, very well balanced with just a slight touch of alcohol which is quite amazing since is 12,12% abv beer. In taste it never ends. The beginning is smooth and calm full of delicate chocolate notes. But as it’s heading to an end it’s starting to be very aggressive, harsh - much more dry and bitter. The aftertaste never ends. It just stays in your mouth with bitter coffee flavors for ever. Alcohol only pleasantly warms the stomach. It really is an awesome beer. Can’t wait to try BA versions.
